Ran into FSCaptain.dll problem as soon I installed the 1.7.0 Beta. Error message says F.S.Captain Bin\Admin.exe is not a Valid win32 Application. Backed up FsCaptain Folder. Then things when from Bad to worse. After removing the FSCaptain Beta Folder I try to put my Backup FSCaptain back in Aircraft Folder. then it did not work like it did when I removed it? So I wound up Removing my FSCaptain 1.6.2 with the remove icon. So I guess it need to make a fresh install 1.6.2 So I am back to square one. Remember I am running Fs9 and windows XP see my remarks what I am running. I assume that nobody has tested this 1.7.0 beta running XP and FS9?? Wish I could have got the 1.7.0 beta installed sound's like it has lot's nice features. Regards Lane

Lane, Which 1.7.0 did you install? Was it the Refresh version I sent yesterday via email or an older one? Did you back up your FSCaptain folder before installing? If you had, then restoring the backup folder should have left you with what you had before. This is very troubling.... XP has long been unsupported by Microsoft, and I know of few Captains other that you who are running it.
We target our EXEs to "Win32" but we cannot test against Win XP, so this is one of the reasons why we caution about making backups before installing.
There are other FS9ers who have tested 1.7.0 (even the latest emailed Refresh version) and 1.7.0 works for them.
This is very perplexing for me....

Lane,
Its possible it could be a bad download. Once you have an older version of FSCaptain running, try downloading the Refresh again and copying the files/folders over.
You can copy your backup's \Config\ and \Data\ folders into your active \FSCaptain\ to maintain your career and settings.

Travis,
I installed the one that you sent by e-mail. I made a copy of your the e-mail. I did made a Back copy of my FSCaptain I still have it in folder on my desktop. I ran the zip and extracted the files into my FS9 root folder. then I think I clicked on the adm icon. and that's were I saw the message I posted above. about the Admin.exe is not a valid win 32 application. when I saw this I had a feeling it was not going to work. So I attempted to copy my back up FsCaptain back. and must have did something wrong. It did not seem to work so I just ran the FScaptain remover icon. And Last night I reinstalled a new install of Fscaptain 1.6.2 checked in Aircraft fs9 and it seemed to work ok and my administrator works ok reinstalled my Reg number and all look's ok. I should have not try to test that beta. I have been away from Flight sims and FsCaptain. for a long time. If you need any more info.or testing just let me known. Sorry I just saw your above Post I did not see it before I posted this. Do you want me to try installing the new Beta over the new one I just installed last night? Regards Lane

Lane,
Yes please - after you make a new and separate backup of your current FSCaptain folder, and re-download the ZIP.
You should only have to extract the three folders and the MakeRwys.exe file into your FS9 folder.
If you want to be extra careful, extract the ZIP first to a separate folder and then try to run the Admin.exe from there. It will complain that it can't find your simulator, but it should run.
There's no change in how the EXEs were built, so this is puzzling.
We have several FS9ers out there, but I think you're one of the last XPers.

Peter, dutch, and travis.. I have found the problem why FSX didn't allow FScaptain.dll. In the register, there was an entry saying to IGNORE FSCAPTAIN.DLL which I deleted. Deleted Fs captain.dll as trusted in FSX.cfg, then loaded FSX. It once again came up with the problem with third party and said to use it. Asked me to run FScaptain.dll (did that) and then to trust it (did that). Yahoooooooooo it worked and I now don't get the third party problem, and I now have FScaptain in the FSX addon Menu. All is back to normal. Peter, if you want, you can check the registry for the one that caused your problem and you might find the same thing. Peter, I have today in the same situation of you have in the past. Where is the "IGNORE FSCAPTAIN.DLL" as you delete? on windows regedit? I was use some days ago the Freeware version of FSCaptain (not register and last version) without problems, but yesterday FSX: SE deny execute FSCaptain.dll and not sure what happens to fix that error. I delete from trusted on FSX.cfg, but not work.

Angel, open regedit and run as administrator. Then use CTRL+F to open find and type in FSCaptin.dll. Then use F3 to go to next instance of FScaptain. Once you find the IGNORE FSCAPTAIN.DLL "VERY IMPORTANT TO ONLY DELETE THAT LINE."

Ok, I use your procedure: -Clear FSCaptain.DLL from register. -Clear FS.Cfg from captain.dll as trusted -restart FSX: SE
Some issues, something happens with PMDG MD-11 with FS2Crew, with intent load that plane with FSCaptain that crash (some time ago use a previous freeware version of FSCaptain, not sure if 1.3.0 or similar) with install something on the aircraft pannels and now crashes all FSX: SE. (probably, I need to uninstall the MD-11 and FS2Crew and reinstall them) Is use other aircraft (Aerosoft Airbus 320, work properly). With crash with MD-11, I need to repeat all previous procedure to restart FSX: SE. Continue investigate them.

Hi Angel,
I am grateful to Leen that he shared his method with you. When I had the FSCaptain.dll problem I couldn't resolve it, but it disappeared when I upgraded to Win 10. Just to make sure I understand correctly what your problem is:
- You have been able to resolve the "IGNORE FSCAPTAIN.DLL" issue - FSX:SE works fine with the A320 and other planes - If you use the MD-11 _and_ FS2Crew _and_ a recent FSCaptain version, FSX crashes. - You don't have that problem with FSCaptain 1.3.0
If this is correct, 1) what happens if you do not start FS2Crew? 2) what happens if you use the FCDU.exe (externally started) instead of starting FSCaptain from within FSX?
To help us analyze the problem, can you send us (see below) a zip file with your FSCaptain\Data\Log folder, your FSCaptain\Aircraft folder, and the aircraft.cfg file of the MD-11 itself? Also, please copy the address of this thread into your message so that everyone on the FSCaptain team knows what the logs are for.
Cheers, Peter

Ok, I uninstall PMDG MD-11 and FS2Crew and reinstall to see if someone was make conflict, but as you say, continue crash. The main problem has that clash with I intent start a new fly (don't reach the airport, and I canĀ“t use FCDU utility). -FS2Crew has integrate with the aircraft, require install proper panel's on the aircraft to work. you can download the Log, aircraft and cfg here. drive.google.com/file/d/0B0xd2VgFanfQSUtSdS0tRkVNZEE/view?usp=sharing

Hi Angel,
thanks for the files. I had a look at it and they look OK to me, but Travis and Dutch might be able to find something. I have made them aware of your problem and expect that they will reply soon.
Best, Peter
