Thank you very much for this addon Dutch ! At last we have challenging AI opponents in FS, to fight against !... We can create our own combat aviation scenarios, just the way we like it. FSCAI definitely changes the "face" of military flying in FSX/P3D.

Here is a video of a test I did around Tchepone Laos. Most of the AAA positions you see firing are ZU-23's. The airplane I was flying was the new donationware T-28A Trojan from Ant's Airplanes www.antsairplanes.com/ which is Tacpack enabled. The frame rates are very low, but besides P3Dv3, FSX@War, CCP and FSCAI, I also had GoogleEarth and a few other programs running, so my system was struggling to keep up. For this test, in the Options.cfg file Difficulty was set to 4 and Resupply was set to 5. Anyway, you can see that there was a lot of AAA headed towards me, but by mostly staying low, I was able to make three passes on the village and make it out OK. As I exited the area to the south I was hit by something (although there was no sound of it happening) and discovered that I had lost aileron control....so I started using the rudder to yaw and roll the airplane. StuB, about your FPS, the much tree autogen causes the most of it (and maybe too many tracers, ie guns placed). In such a situation I would decrease autogen to minimum, or even no autogen... I also have noted that this beta Tacpacked Trojan, has an observational impact in FPS, compared with the previous donationware version.
The base looks interesting.
About the sounds when user gets hit, don't trigger to me either, though I run the standalone version. Dutch, keep that in mind, as also the fact that when tracers hit the ground causing explosion effects, there is also an FPS impact (but I know this is Alpha and not optimized yet).

Sound issues in the 0.8.37 version have been fixed and a re-download and re-install of the standalone version will restore sounds. fscaptain.proboards.com/thread/3218/get-latest-version-fscaiThe current version is 0.8.39 and fixes a couple of other minor issues, details in the README. Including the contrails are gone from the tracers. Dutch

Good to know about the autogen. I'll play with the settings to see if I can find a good balance....and also try testing with a different airplane. I was going to use the Tacpacked Piglet F-5 but the guns are stuck firing for some reason and I haven't figured out how to stop it. Though off topic... for many reasons : - My 80% of my hard drive is occupied by FSX payware (& freeware) addons. Most of them are'nt optimized for 64bit. - My OS is 32bit. Moving to P3Dv4 would mean buying a new pc plus rebuying same stuff that I already have, like the Tacpack, etc. Such a cost is not justified, especially when : - FSX@War doesn't work in P3Dv4, meaning that Tacpack has lost over 50% of being appealing to me in P3Dv4 for combat flying. My old FSX is far better suited for combat flying in FS, despite the lack of performance compared to P3D. Even if I have to fly with no autogen, just over the photoreal FSX tiles (or make my own photosceneries...).

There are many reasons that any Captain would prefer one simulator over another.

A great freeware B-26 "Marauder" is out, so I fitted her with a bombsight and Tacpack and started some bombing runs in my FSX "Normandy 1944" against FSX@War targets at Havre's port, while FSCAI armed the port defences... : Level bombing performed @ 4.300ft, @ 200knots, with 16 "primary" upward klicks at Norden bombsight (after tests). Bombing is quite precise as you may see - though I was a bit out of target oil tanks... Taco, I told you I'm quite alright...
