Topic Change: FSC Admin Flight Dispatch
I was browsing through my flight dispatch page listing flights available. While I understand why it is sorted by flight number it would be awesome if I could click the top of the "Departs" column to sort by departure times. Otherwise I have to scroll down thru the list to find the departure times that work for me. (i.e. just landed at xyz at 1400 and want to look at flights out that I could make)
Probably been mentioned before and if so I apologize but being able to sort by other columns would be beneficial, like sort by distantce, sort by payload, or by pax... Well you get the idea.
Thanks for listening
Cheers

I've seen a few similar ideas, but I might have an idea of how FSC might implement them. NAVAID Outages in NOTAMs: I believe FS allows you to detect what Navaid is currently being received by a nav radio. It should be possible to temporarily fail the radio if an inoperative navaid is selected and unfail it when it is no longer receiving it. Else, it may be possible to fail it when both a know distance and frequency for that navaid are met. FICON NOTAMs: Would there be a possibility of the runway contamination simulation being able to read FICON NOTAMs and behave appropriately? Weather Minima: I also wouldn't mind seeing a set of weather minima cfg files to allow a more realistic handling of this concept. Especially with airlines, weather minima often depend on the airport's facilities, aircraft's equipment, airline's policies, pilot's qualifications, and governing aviation authorities. As the setting stands currently, I have to set the wind for the highest allowed wind on a visual approach, and the lowest ceiling and visibility allowed for a fail-operational 737 CAT III b autoland. However, this means I won't get a diversion because the ceiling or vis require the CAT III b approach, but the winds prohibit the approach. I'm thinking something along the lines of an airport_minimums.cfg, aircraft_minimums.cfg (or separate files per aircraft model), and <airline_name>_minimums.cfg. Here's a link to an outline of airline specific weather minima to give you an idea. MidCon FOM. It's all in Chapter 6.

bbrazeel,
I certainly 'get' your idea! And I wish I could do something about it....
I'm an old .NET coder and sorting/filtering columns there was always easy-peasy.
As the Administrator is currently a WIn32 application, I don't see how to recognize clicks on column headings.
As we approach FSCaptain 2.0, things may change. (Perhaps not... but only time will tell.)
Best,

I was thinking that maybe you could "pretty" up the interface to make it feel more like I'm working on a web page of a virtual airline. I know it seems rather useless as far as functionality, but I got to thinking... this add-on is spectacular in what it does while I'm planning, and flying.. no other add on gives me the in-flight information, the kneeboard information. But the form looks a little dated. PLEASE don't take this the wrong way, because I LOVE this add on and I realize I'm only asking for "fluff" .. What I was thinking was, you know how if you're in a virtual airline, let's say Lufthansa, and you see pictures of Lufthansa planes, lol, maybe some other areas where you have your flight history. I'm thinking about Air Hauler, it had kind of a nice interface, assignments. It just didn't have anything close to the flight planning and tracking that FSCAPTAIN has. Also, it has this map where you can see other pilots flying who are using the software.. not even sure if anyone else would be interested in this type of thing. These are just my 2 cents

Hi Jscharpf, we're actually on the same boat here Yes, the Administrator interface is a bit dated and we have already plans to update it, even some preliminary tests. However, that will take a bit of time and is planned for FSCaptain 2.0. Cheers, Peter

Hi there,
Sometimes there's so much noise in the cockpit that I can hardly hear what my FO is saying. That, and because English is not my native language, makes difficult to listen and understand important reports.
Would it be possible to add a message to the FCDU with the FO's last words? That could be an optional feature.
Cheers!

Hi, while we're on the subject maybe it would be nice to have a mute button on the FCDU to temporarily mute the FO ánd FA? Sometimes there's so much communication going on, especially with ATC and ground staff, that it can be disturbing to have everyone talking at the same time. I know you can switch FO and FA off altogether, but at other moments it's nice to have some "chatter" going on. Cheers, Luc

Hi Luc, another really good idea. I find it especially hard to silence those guys on Vatsim I will convey your idea to Travis; he is already working on Jose's idea. Cheers, Peter

Jose, Your idea has been suggested before and your reminder has 'hit me'. So this is in slow development....

Luc,
Your idea is also in slow development.
As of today's build of 1.8.0, pressing LSK1L (the uppermost left LSK) on many pre-flight screens... and the 'main in-flight' screens' will quiet FA, FO, ICEMAN and Pushback audios.
Technically it will prevent new audios from playing... if I've started a long Secure Jet speech, it will continue until completed.
You'll see a "!" character beside the FCDU screen number when voices are muted.
There's even an option to not display the "VoiceText" onscreen text if voices are muted. That's not a good suggestion since you can miss an important warning from your FO... but it'll be there if you want it.
Regards,
|
