Jet flight departing from "uncontrolled" airport with icing conditions. Selected manual deice from FCDU. Deicing proceeded normally but upon completion, never got the option to proceed with flight. The FCDU would keep looping back to the deice screen. After going through this a number of times, I was able to proceed by starting the engines and taxiing, at which point the FCDU went to the "normal" flight screen. Im using FSGRW as my weather program.
Thanks rpm.

Hmm, I haven't done a manual deicing in ages, so I'll test that later this week.
Also, please send the FCDU and FSCaptain logs for this flight in email... just in case I can spot something from them!

I have the log files, and thanks very much! I can see from them that the issue is your manual deicing in Light Freezing Rain left only a little time (< 20 seconds?) before your large aircraft began to re-accumulate more ground ice. Deicing at an uncontrolled field does not normally allow for anti-ice to be applied, so there was no Holdover Time. And that repeats several more times....But when you went OUT, that stopped the Ground Ice accumulation because your option was set to not allow Ground Ice to accumulate during taxi. ---------- Realistically - in current thought on how to deal with Ground Ice - such a flight with only manual deicing available should not have taken off. It likely should have waited until the rain was over. So things actually worked as they were supposed to... but I can see where that would be frustrating. I'll need to try this to see if the "loop" tells the Captain there is a need to deice again! ----------
Another train of thought would have the airline to equip such a departing airport with limited fluid capabilities. The HOT.cfg file lists Light Freezing Rain at 2C with 50% Type III at 4 - 6 minutes HOT, and with 100% Type III at 8 - 10 minutes HOT. Since there's likely not a lot of AI traffic at such an airport, a good 100% Type III may give a safe taxi-out (with or without Ground Ice to accumulate during taxi).
As an example, this entry would allow Type III fluid treatment to CYZV, along with Manual and Alcohol treatments: CYZV=3,M,A I'll be happy to take suggestions from any Captain who would like to offer a Better Way Out of This SituationTM.
Best,

Travis, that explains it. The rapid accumulation of ice after manual deicing kept me in a "loop". So it did indeed work as it should! The only thing is I checked my weather and hazard settings and "ice can accumulate during taxi" was enabled.
thanks rpm.

RPM, I cleaned my glasses and rechecked - you're correct and I was absolutely mistaken! I must have misread your log about the option setting! You went OUT with 16 lbs of Ground Ice, and you went OFF with 24 lbs. That's borderline to cause flight control issues, but it didn't happen that day. I do see something else very odd with your FCDU log though.... If you don't mind, once you have a few 1.8.4 flights under your belt, could you please ZIP and email me your FCDU and FSCaptain logs - as well as your "_IN" dispatch release files - for all of your 1.8.4 Alpha flights? I would greatly appreciate it!! Best,
