Hi there Is there a way to know exactly what happened to cause a failure, or in other words what the failure actually was? I was flying the other day and everything seemed ok, I landed, taxied to the gate and ended the flight as usual, but then on the justify screen I saw some marks had been added because I had safely landed the aircraft despite the failure, but there were also marks deducted because I hadn't declared an emergency. I have turned on the show failure code on fcdu option ever since the incident but haven't had the chance to test it because I haven't had any failures.
How can I manually check what the issue was? I'm assuming there would be a record of it in the log files somewhere?
Thank you!

Hello Capflysim,
yes, that information should be in the FCDU log file. Open it with a text editor and search for failure or penalty. The failure itself is probably given as a number; you may find mechanical fault codes in appendix 4 of the user guide. If you cannot find the failure, send us (see blue link below) a zip file with your FSCaptain\Data\Log folder. Please send the email in particular to Travis and copy the address of this thread into your message so that we know what the logs are for.
Best, Peter

Hi Capflysim,
I will look out for your logs....
But in the meantime, we've had other Captains express concerns about this same issue - a -25pt penalty for not declaring an emergency.
So for 1.8.4 Alpha, this penalty will be removed. The removal should apply to all previous penalties.
Furthermore, many aircraft-induced failures / faults will be reported on the FCDU header. Currently, only FSCaptain-induced failures / faults are reported there.
Keep an eye on this and when 1.8.4 Alpha is released (this weekend??) look to see if there's any change.
Best,

Thanks Travis I might as well wait for 1.8.4 since heaps of my issues will be covered by the looks of it! Excited to see what it looks like!

The release of 1.8.4 Alpha will occur within 24 hours. The final testing bits passed muster today, and all I need to do is to wrap everything up and tie everything up in a nice forum post bow. The main new feature of this release is the Runway Info and Selection screen. It has many useful features that need more than a README. Runway Info and Selection.pdf (798.04 KB) Everything pertaining to that is explained in this document. My suggestion is to read it several times and when you have questions, to please ask here in the forum where everyone can read. Best,
