Hello, I just installed FSCaptain 0.8.3 for P3D5 and I keep getting this message when I try to start a Cargo or Passenger flight. I don't get this message when I start a ferry flight. I have setup everything in the Administrator Airplane and Load pages. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hello Alan,
there are a number of reasons why this could happen. First, have you checked whether the FCDU.exe version works? Second, have you installed the correct version of FSCaptain (the 64-bit version for P3D 4 and 5)? If that doesn't help, we should investigate. Can you send us (see blue link below) a zip file with your FSCaptain\Data\Log folder? Please send the email to all of us and copy the address of this thread into your message so that everyone on the FSCaptain team knows what the logs are for.
Cheers, Peter

Hi Alan, I have your log files with nearly a dozen attempts using the FCDU.exe. The one thing that your crashes have in common is they were just looking for this file: \P3D\FSCaptain\Config\Preferred_Alternates.txtDo you have a copy of this file or is it missing? There should be a 'dummy data' copy in the installer. If you have one, does it contain some data for Western US and Canadian airports? I'll do some more checking after lunch, but I'd like to ask if you've used the Administrator to Dispatch a flight? Best, We may have just had an earthquake..... There was a 5.08 quake near San Jose, CA about 10 minutes ago. No reported damage as of now. The state-sponsored 'quake app' that I use stared squawking about 10 seconds before we felt a tremor or two.

Hey, and thanks for the reply! I have the preferred_alernates.txt file and it has data for Western US and Canadian airports. I have never used Administrator to dispatch a flight.

I just tried using the gauge and it works fine! I'm guessing it's a simconnect issue?

That's really odd.... Do you run your Administrator "as Administrator"? We can't affect the shortcut that we generate to run "as Administrator" so we have to ask Captains to manually do such. Best, --No local earthquake damage that we know of.

I did run the administrator program as admin. Oh well, I'll continue using the gauge version. Thanks again for the help!

Hi Bob, (Old drinking game joke to any fans of the old Bob Newhart Show) I did intend to ask if you ran the FCDU.EXE "as Administrator" but after reading your last message, I assume that you do. I'll put this on the front burner for study. I would recommend for a test that you use the Administrator to dispatch one flight and then try your FCDU.EXE. I'll need more log files... but just a few sets... one for a successful Gauge flight, one for an Administrator dispatched flight attempt, etc. "This is damned peculiar." -- Kirk, Wrath of KhanBest,

Hello, I have been out of town for a couple of weeks and have not been able to sim since. One thing I noticed, if I run ActiveSky weather for P3D5 before I try running FCDU, FCDU crashes. As long as I run FCDU and completely set it up first, everything works fine.
