Good day,
I have recently purchased FSCaptain and successfully installed it to my FS2004 root directory, however, when I attempt to run the FSCaptain Administrator .exe file, it prompts me to rebuild airport database so I click 'OK' but then it gives an error code -90 when trying to run the SceneryScanner tool, I am trying to use FSCaptain for FS2004. I have tried to run the FSCaptain Administrator .exe file as administrator however the problem still persists, I was wondering if someone could assist me with resolving this issue, if any more information is needed regarding this issue, please let me know and I will be glad to offer it, just that at the moment I am not too sure what information that I could give that would be helpful to resolving this issue. I would genuinely appreciate it if someone could help me resolve this issue that I am currently still facing, thanks in advance.

Good day to our most arcane Captain ever! Sorry for the problem that you're having. "-90" is the error code that SceneryScanner displays when something it did not expect happens. If you look in your \FSCaptain\Data\Logs folder, there should be log files (all in text) that begin with ADMIN, FCDU, FSCaptain, and SceneryScanner. Could you ZIP and email me all of those files - or at least the ones which begin with ADMIN and SceneryScanner? I might be able to see something in there to give me an idea of what might be happening. Best regards,

Best regards, Good day, Thanks for the reply, here are all of the log files that are present in my FSCaptain Logs Folder at the time I am sending this message. I have attached the compressed zip folder containing the log files in this message. While trying to gather all the log files though, I noticed that all of the log files either begin with ADMIN or FSCAPTAIN, there are no log files that begin with FCDU or SceneryScanner or anything else in my FSCaptain logs folder. I was wondering if you know if there is a possible reason why this is so? And is this normal? Anyways please do let me know if you are able to find a way to help resolve the original issue as mentioned in my first message and thank you for taking the time to help me, I genuinely appreciate it. Best regards, Arcane

Hi Arcane,
The FCDU logs won't be written until you start a flight, so that's not an issue for now.
There was no SceneryScanner log likely because it couldn't find a file that it reads to make your database.
Your log showed that there was less than two seconds between our Admin running MakeRunways, and running SceneryScanner.
MakeRunways takes quite a while to complete its work, and that's where I'm going to focus my attention first....
So here are some more questions that I need to ask:
1. Is this EXE file present on your PC? C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\MICROSOFT GAMES\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9\MAKERWYS.EXE
2. If the EXE is present, is this text file present on your PC? C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\MICROSOFT GAMES\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9\RUNWAYS.TXT
3. If the text file is present, what's the file's size? (A normal runways.txt file would be many, many megabytes in size.) ----
If the answer to question 1 is "No," then I need to know if your simulator is running on Win 7 or earlier... or on Win 10 or newer. Your answer here will tell me which version of MakeRunways I need to send to you.
If the answer to question 1 is "Yes," but the answer to question 2 is "No," then we might be looking at an issue derived from you running FS9 in a "Windows-protected" folder. So we need to check that you're running Admin.exe "as Administrator" to avoid any security issues.
I'll assume that you know how to modify an EXE (and/or a shortcut to an EXE) to run "as Administrator" if this is the case. If you don't, just ask and one of us will answer.
Let's stop here to get your answers and we can explore some more things afterwards. Other questions from me right now might be a waste of time.
----
Sometime on my Saturday I'll generate an airport database for you from default FS9 data. That database would at least allow you to make a flight until we get MakeRunways and SceneryScanner working for you.
Best regards,

Answer to question 1: Yes, the makerwys.exe file is present. Answer to question 2: Yes, the runways.txt file is present. Answer to question 3: The size of the runways.txt file is 1KB (not sure why it is as such though as I already tried to run the MakeRwys.exe file as administrator by itself but to no avail as well) Best regards, Arcane

Arcane, Hmmm. If you've run makerwys.exe as administrator and there's only a 1K runways.txt, then I would need to know the OS on your simulator's PC so I can perhaps provide you with a different makerwys.exe. I'm about to contact Pillow Approach, so my next answer will be delayed 12+ hours. Best,

Best, Good day Travis, Just in case, I have already tried running makerwys.exe as administrator and the size of the runways.txt file still remains at 1KB. As for your question about the OS that my simulator PC is running on, here are the details regarding the OS I am running on my simulator PC: Edition: Windows 10 Home Version: 2004 OS Build: 19041.1415 Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3920.0 Thank you for the help so far, as for the delay, it is alright haha, sleep is important too. Please let me know as soon as you can resume helping me with the problem and I hope you have a good rest (or, should I say, good flight ). Best regards, Arcane

Arcane, Thanks, it was a very nice flight! First I'd like to ask you if you would mind uploading the runways.txt that you have. I'm guessing there might be some information there. But to move forward I'd like to say I'm glad to see you on an updated OS, but I had guessed you might have a Win 7 or Vista PC running FS9. So I'm going to point you to the download page on the Dowsons' forum: forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/When you're there, I feel you should download the "Version 4.70" ZIP file, and then copy the MakeRwys.exe program from within that ZIP to your FS9 root folder - C:\PROGRAM FILES (X86)\MICROSOFT GAMES\FLIGHT SIMULATOR 9\ fsuipc.simflight.com/beta/MakeRunways_470.zipAnd after that, directly run the 4.70 MakeRwys.exe as Administrator and see if it generates the gobs of data that FSCaptain relies upon. If that seems to work, then you can try running SceneryScanner as Administrator and see if it's happier. However if MakeRunways 4.70 doesn't seem to make the data that it should, you might consider posting a question to the Dowsons on their forum. Short of some anti-virus or malware detection program, I can't think of any issues that would flummox MakeRunways.... ----- And as a "better than nothing" bandage, you could download this ZIP file which includes a version 1.8.3 compatible "airports.cfg" file that should be copied into your \FSCaptain\Config\ folder: www.fscaptain.net/downloads/Default_Airports/Airports_FS9_183.zipThis will give you data on all FS9 default airports so you can begin to find places. I do not have default runway nor parking spot information though, dadgumit! But let's hope that MakeRunways 4.70 will do the trick! Best,
