Everything was running fine with the FCDU on a networked PC until I installed another program on the networked pc. Now I get simulator not running, exiting. My fault but I have tried everything I can think of to rectify the problem. FCDU runs fine on simulator PC. Windows 10, P3d v4.5, PMDG 737-800 NGXu Tried reinstalling FScaptain Reinstalling All versions of simconnect. Reinstalling FSUIPC and Widefs both registered. Widefs works fine by the way, if that's relevent. EFB works without problem. Read and write possible in both directions to all and any folders. Workgroup names the same. Uninstalled antivirus and firewall, and turned off all windows security. I'm now at a complete loss as to what else to try. Oh and also reinstalled the P3D client......getting desperate.
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Kind regards Steve

Hi Steve,
Sorry to hear of that.
That message is only visible if the one-and-only SimConnect_Open() call which we make has returned anything other than SUCCEEDED. So shares and permissions may not be the thing to look at right now. If you can still run your weather program from the "remote PC" and connect to P3D, then there's little reason that FSCaptain can't. Speaking of permissions, does the FCDU.EXE have "Run as administrator" enabled? Just a thought....
If you could, please email me the FCDU and FSCAPTAIN logs from your last attempt or three. There's not much in terms of "problem area logging" for now, but I can look for a several other bits of data that I can use to rule somethings in-or-out.
If you feel it might help, you could also include the name of the recently installed program in the same email to me.
I'm adding detailed problem area logging to 183-SP1-A1 tonight.
Best,

Hi Travis, Thanks for looking at this. The software installed was AI Companion. Since uninstalled in temper. I don't run weather but do run PF3 atc program from Network using Widefs. FCDU runs as administrator. Logs attached. I'm guessing it is simconnect related but blessed if I can figure what. Regards Steve Attachments:logs.rar (50.79 KB)

Steve,
I have your logs and will review them in my evening.
I've d/l'ed AIC and it does look intriguing. I rummaged through the network install txt file, and I need to know from you which steps you followed.
My one big question at the moment is what is in your SimConnect.xml file (step 4 in the TXT file) on your server PC, and on a SimConnect.cfg file (step 7) on your Client PC Did you make new files, or were there files already present?
If any of the SimConnect parameters (IP / Type / Port) were changed, that could prevent connection. ------
Dutch is in severe crunch time on one of his MV projects, so it may be difficult to get his head screwed on such that he could diagnose on this anytime soon, but I'll put up a flag for him.
Best for now,

Hi Travis, Might get delayed in responding to you. Had pneumonia last spring followed by Covid in September and hospitalised. Still suffering long covid and only just got back to work. Now caught covid again. Fully vaxxed and been up most of the night but hey.....that's the way the cookie crumbles. Stay safe everyone and respond as I can. Regards Steve
