Hello, last week I found a website that is selling schedules for VA and I was wondering if I can use one of the schedules that they are selling with FSCaptain. The website is virtualairlineschedules.net/. Thank you. Carlos

Hello Carlos, of course you can! You can use any source for schedules and enter the data manually into your FSCaptain airline's **_schedule.txt file OK, I am pretty sure that this is not the answer you have been hoping for. I am aware of the service that you link to, but I never personally had the need to get one of their data sets. While I believe that it would be possible to use their data in some way, I am not sure whether that would be in line with the license for their data. I will bring this to the attention of Dutch and Travis and discuss possible options. Cheers, Peter

Hello Carlos,
Thanks for showing us this site! It looks like a very interesting resource that some Captains could find useful.
I grabbed some sample schedules from them, and I see their schedule data currently can't be imported into FSCaptain. The reason is that we don't allow for "duplicate flight numbers" which V-A-S can supply in their data.
This issue has nagged at me for many years, so I think it's time that I attempt to adjust our schedule format.
So bookmark this thread, and I will update it when there is progress on this issue.
Best regards,

Peter, yes I know that the data provided for them will suit to a virtual airline but I would like to have schedules like the one offered by them in FSCaptain. I could do it manually just how you said, the problem for me is that for big airlines the work is insane.
Travis, the duplicated flight numbers is a problem importing the schedules? I'm asking because I have a schedule with duplicated flight numbers without problems.
Thank you both for your help and I will wait for some news about this.
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
FSCaptain needs unique flight numbers for its own system. However, there are potentially ways to circumvent this problem. Give Dutch and Travis a bit of time to think about the schedules. However, Travis is right: supporting these schedules would indeed be a nice addition to FSCaptain.

Travis, the duplicated flight numbers is a problem importing the schedules? I'm asking because I have a schedule with duplicated flight numbers without problems. I just ran a 'sanity test' of this... and as far as the Schedule Editor is concerned... you seem to be right - duplicate flight numbers may be possible (Even though there is a clear warning on the dialog against such!) I will run more tests in my weekend to see if there are any possible problems. Off the top of my head, we have to be able to Create / Edit flights, have the flights be recognized by the Dispatcher (both in the Administrator and in the FCDU), and finally to have the FCDU honor any such dispatched flights with no issues. But I would like to ask this - if you have previously purchased any of these schedules, which data format did/do you use? Some of the formats I've seen use non-numeric characters in some of their "Flight Number" fields. And that is something that we definitely do not currently support! Best,

Hi guys,
Sorry I could not answer before I was busy the last 2 days. Travis, I downloaded the one in XML format which for me was the easier one to read. Is the one for PFPX (Professional Flight Planner X). Now I am using one from Ultimate Traffic 2 that I manually put in, I can send it to you (because I cannot attach it here) in case you want to take a look for those duplicated flight numbers.

Hi Carlos, Funny, the PFPX format was going to be one of my last items - 5 of the 7 formats (IIRC) are CSV variants, so I was going to focus on them first. I have an old email address for you, but I don't know if it's gone cold or not. So yes, please email us a copy of what you have (UT2 has one??) and I'll see what I can make of it. Just please know that it will only work in the version that we're building. I have to expand our schedule "data schema" in a way that will allow existing schedules to work along with "enhanced schedules." One thing that will be added to our schedule files is the ability to add a small note to each flight. Regards,
