For GSX users it would be cool to get a few points for perfect parking which quite clearly takes some effort in most planes, sans the awesome Majestic Dash 8 which can be very well controlled as far as taxi speed goes. Plus, when you're down to the wire w/ available block time you can afford to take that extra minute if you get rewarded for it yeah! Maybe +3 points or so?
Thanks! I love FSC!

Hi Noel, I am strictly against this! I would lose a ton of points because I always miss the line No, great idea of course. It sure would help me to develop some centerline pride Cheers, Peter

Noel, First, thank you for your kind words about FSCaptain! All such thoughts are always greatly appreciated and welcomed. That's a great idea - I can say so because I had that idea several years ago and asked FSDT about exposing such data. They chose not to do so, so our hands are tied in that regard. But it was still something bouncing around in my mostly empty noggin. We currently allow you to be declared as 'parked' if you're within 25 meters of your assigned spot, but I have thought to award a point or so if you get your aircraft within... let's say 8 meters and again 2 meters of the target point. And since we know the 'heading' of the parking point we could even add a bonus point if your aircraft's heading was within a certain range difference. No parking demerits just so Peter can sleep soundly. We'll toss this idea around for the "FSCaptain Next" release as we should be making some other scoring changes in that timeframe.... Regards,

Sounds good. I'm not surprised about FSDT after reading this comment from a question I posted a few days ago on their forum, from Umberto:
Noel said: 'the second problem has to do with how FSCaptain worked w/ GSX in the new GSX de-icing entries.'
Umberto said: 'I'm sorry, but I cannot help you here. I never seen this product and I'm not entirely sure what it does, or how it interacts with GSX. We are trying to add some additional control, using Simconnect, to 3rd party developers, this will hopefully help them improving the interaction with it.'
Maybe they added some access now to the parking routine??
Thanks again! You folks are truly the best!

Each and every time we reach out to Umberto, when he responds he mentions that. (Even on the first week of the GSX pre-announcement.)
It's like FSCaptain is "The Silence" of the Flight Sim world - if you're not looking at us, you forget about us. Okay, we can live with that.
We'll ping him again shortly to see what they have in store. (Our Beta 3 seems to be on track to go public this weekend, so it's crunch time around here.)
While we would love to support their grading... I'd like for us to offer our own parking assessment for those Captains still using FS9 and/or other ground service utilities.
Regards,

Noel said: 'the second problem has to do with how FSCaptain worked w/ GSX in the new GSX de-icing entries.' Noel, Btw, what are you seeing now in this regard?? I ran a test with their latest update and all other services are still reporting fine. They never came through with a state update for their de-icing (as they did for other services), so we have had to guess at things. Best,

My vote for scoring the parking is making it for sure an option. GSX can't even get it right as the marshaller is never consistent. Only when you configure this parking spot will it be spot on for your specific aircraft.

It's too late to say at this point--my P3D install stable for 20 months now had meltdown of sorts status post installing FSDT Hawaiian Airports which involves mandatory update of GSX. All may have been OK w/ the new de-icing routine but I can't recall now but something looked problematic--sorry I can't recall. I ended up restoring the C:\ drive SSD which contains P3D V3.0 and all of my add ons, so at least it all works again but I can't remember exactly what was off w/ GSX & FSC. I could take a chance and try again updating GSX only, and leave off the Hawaiian Airports, but I had better back up my FSCaptain files first! I lost a month's worth of progress w/ the last foray into installing airports/GSX update.

Fair enough. If you see something going forward, please bring it to us first. I worked out the interaction with Umberto for GSX & FSCaptain, so although he's forgotten all about us, trust me... I remember them.

I agree with you on their judgment. Others may disagree with me and you, and that's their right.
But any 'parking bonus' that we introduce will be only a bonus... never a demerit. Our philosophy has been to just get within 25 meters of your assigned spot and ACME Dispatch will be happy. It's common sense that if you get closer, we'll be happier.
Regards to all,
