We're announcing today October 12th the release of an Update to another major update to FSCaptain -- release 1.7.1 for FSX (boxed and Steam), Prepar3d versions 2 & 3, and FS9/FS2004. FSCaptain works with all current versions of Windows from Vista 32/64 to Windows 10.
This development cycle has been one of the longest in FSCaptain history, and well worth the wait as it brings the most changes ever!
The highlights of FSCaptain 1.7 are major upgrades which bring many real-world Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) policies to our simulator for the first time. Captains can choose to respect Minimum Safe Distance regulations which keep themselves and their passengers and cargo at safe altitudes during flights. Thinking of flying to another country? FSCaptain can optionally restrict departure and destinations to airports which have Customs Services. Tired of other flight generators offering airline flights from a national hub to "Farmer Joe's Airstrip?" FSCaptain can honor declared Private Use Airports.
This release also contains new features to make the product easier and more efficient to use, and continues on the path taking FSCaptain towards a total package that enhances the Microsoft/Lockheed Martin flight simulator franchise, including many elements of the modern ATP environment. With FSCaptain, simulator pilots can have a taste of the challenges of flying for pay in the real world – for an employer with policies and a dispatch office, flying passengers and/or cargo with professionalism and safety, and at all times meeting tight time schedules.
FSCaptain continues to augment the physical environment to fly in: accurate ground icing and de-icing procedures which cover everything from freezing fog, to snow, to cold soaked wings in humid air; in-air icing and precipitation effects which can cause engine failure; enhanced turbulence when flying through thunderstorms; modeling of contaminated runways and taxiways; and (new to this version) an enhanced braking abuse effect. (Enable this and any landing with parking brakes already set should result in a disaster.)
Version 1.7 offers heightened support for helicopters and amphibious / float planes for those Captains who like to fly wet or in the bush. The list of items available for transport has grown, and now Captains can even find themselves transporting VIPs or groups such as baseball, cricket, football and rugby teams.
The available flight crews to assist each Captain has expanded, with the addition of a German speaking FO, an American FA, and a German / Canadian-English FA. (And more FOs are in the pipeline.)
FSCaptain's tradition of being available in a fully functional and time unlimited trial mode has expanded. Now EGCC, EGGD and EGJJ join the original "three free" airports of KOLM, KPDX and KSEA. In trial mode, anyone can start their flight from these six airports to anywhere their aircraft can travel!
FSCaptain can be downloaded from the FSCaptain website - www.fscaptain.net/ - which has more detailed information. License keys can be obtained from several online flight sim retailers.
