Hiya
I mostly use the Aerosoft Airbus A320
Just got FSCaptain as you probably know, but was interested to know why the Aircraft Characteristics are wrong?
Passenger seats is showing as 90 which is about 60 short atleast. So it begs the question, is there other characteristics i should be checking?
If I should be, where should I be getting the info from ?
Many thanks
Paul

Hi Paul, I can't recall where the original A320.cfg file came from - it may have been auto-generated from an early FCOM - but I do know that the overriding configuration files for the Aerosoft A320s should have 150 pax seats. Look in \FSCaptain\Aircraft\Overrides\ for the override files. I think there's a bug in 1.6.2 that will sometimes not load an override file, but I have eliminated that in the late and near-mythical 1.6.3. Peter wrote a nice document that lists some of the key characteristics & their sources. It may be in the \FSCaptain\Documentation\ folder, but I've just uploaded a copy to the files area: www.fscaptain.net/atm/index.php?action=downloadfile&filename=FSCaptain Airplane Configuration How-To.pdf&directory=Documents& I also want to think that he's given me updated load maps & config files for the newer Airbuses, so I'll check before our next Fixpack....

Hi Paul, Passenger seats is showing as 90 which is about 60 short atleast. We at ACME airlines put a high value on the comfort of our passengers Well, you are of course right that things go wrong here. It might be that your plane is not recognized by FSCaptain, for instance. To check that out you could send us (see below) a recent Administrator log file. I am using the Aerosoft A320 and it works fine. Below you may find updated configuration file for this plane. Rename them by removing the capitalized word (and the space in front of the word) and put it in the corresponding subdirectory of FSCaptain\Airlplanes Cheers, Peter Aerosoft Airbus X A320 Extended IAE MAPS.cfg (457 B) Aerosoft Airbus X A320 Extended IAE OVERRIDE.cfg (933 B)

Hi Paul,
that sounds like something is going wrong. You will still get assignments for this plane, but payload and fuel might be completely wrong. I can have a look at this if you send me (see below) - the aircraft.cfg file of the A320 (in FSX\Simobjects\Airplanes\Aerosoft Airbus X A320 Extended IAE - the (zipped) folder FSX\FSCaptain\Aircraft
Cheers, Peter

"I hope you're not planning on sticking with the FCOM. " What do you mean?

I hope you're not planning on sticking with the FCOM. "I hope you're not planning on sticking with the FCOM. " What do you mean? The FCOM - which is the gauge with the "F-keys" instead of the FCDU with all the alpha-numeric keys, the Line Shift Keys, and the "smart keys (?)" is literally a separate entity, and one which newer FSCaptain items cannot be used with.
For over a year we've mentioned that development on the FCOM has been depreciated. It doesn't support ground de-icing calls, etc.
Over its six-year history, FSCaptain "grew like Topsy," and some of the more recent features proved to be a daunting challenge to code against a limited input interface. So we decided to focus future development on the FCDU interface.
We plan to continue building the FCOM versions as well as the FCDU, so any underlying functions that are called by both interfaces will be used by those who prefer the FCOM design. But we do not plan to add new screens to the FCOM (such as the Flight Plan screens).
If anyone has questions, please feel free to start a new topic and post them!
Regards.

I don't use the FCOM anyway just the FCDU :-)
If it's on my logs it was prob just a key press error ;-)
