Hi i don't know if i am the only one encountering this problem . But recently i have install the new SP1 an expansion pack for PMDG777 , an i am having this problem when installing ACARS FCOM. The problem is that when everything is install i get about 6FPS inside the VC . I know many suggested checking to see if the taxi cam was enable. I have check that is not enable. I know it is FS Captain causing this problem, because when i uninstall PMDG777 Base Back & Expansion pack an reinstall them again with out FS Captain everything seem back to normal ,an i am getting 22FPS inside the VC while on ground. I have try several time reinstalling the FCOM to a different area in the PMDG 777 Panel but it doesn't seem to work. I can confirm running PMDG 777-300 with out FS Captain an FPS are very smooth in the mid 20 to 25 inside the VC. I have also check to be running the latest FS Captain with the FIX Pack . Can someone please help i really enjoy using FS Captain with PMDG 777?

Hello Mr340,
I don't have that aircraft, so I can only attempt to gather data for when Dutch returns....
(Plus, I am one who has never see an FPS loss when using FSCaptain, so I'm really not sure why it would cause an FPS drop.)
Could you please ZIP and email me (please don't post in the topic) your panel.cfg with the ACARS as well as the original panel.cfg ?
Have you installed your FSX to the default \Program Files\ folder, or to a different location?
Have you tried using the standalone ACARS with your 777 SP1?
Did the ACARS cause a drastic FPS loss before you installed the 777 SP1?
Does the FPS loss occur before you call the FSCaptain ACARS or only after you've called it once on a flight?

Hi, Travis
I will zip and email you the panef.cfg with the Acars. But should i PM you those stuff here or can you PM me your email address ?
My fsx is on its own HDD
I have never try the standalone ACARS , an i don't have a clue on how to.
When i install the PMDG 777 SP1 everything seem fine . I can fly do about any flight in any scenery right now , an i won't suffer any FPS loss . But as i install the acars in one of the main panel on the PMDG 777 my FPS drops to 6. I know this is wierd because i have never suffer not even 1 FPS loss with FS Captain that is why i won't fly with out it.
The FPS loss occur only when i install the FMC from the ACARS installer.

Hi, Travis I will zip and email you the panef.cfg with the Acars. But should i PM you those stuff here or can you PM me your email address ? Mr340 (are you an Airbus fan, by chance?? ) You can read Dutch and my email addresses here. I don't like to spell them out in plain text on a website so we don't get spammed any more than we currently do. Okay, so MS security shouldn't be an issue. If you look in your FSX\FSCaptain\bin folder, you should see "FCDU.exe" That's a standalone EXE which is the same code as the gauge FCDU. So on your next flight, start FSX and when you are ready to start the FCDU, run this instead of the gauge. In fact, you can uninstall the gauge and still run the standalone.... Please note that if you ever do run the gauge FCDU in a flight, the standalone EXE will not run, as having two FCDUs would be a messy problem. After Dutch returns, he and I will huddle up to plan our next moves for FSCaptain, and I would think that supporting the PMDG 777 would be on that list. (Assuming PMDG has released an SDK for the 777.) ( Yes, I'm behind the times.)

Thanks Travis , an yes i am big fan of Airbus. To be honest FS Captain is one of the main reason i still use FSX. So you guys keep up the great work with FS Captain . I will try using the standalone. Can i used the standalone on my laptop while i use fsx on my desktop? Also if i want to reinstall FS Captain is there any way i can save all my flight log for an airline company such as Delta?

Hi , Travis i have solve the problem by performing these steps
To accomplish a full removal and clean install of the PMDG 777-200LR/F, follow these steps: Uninstall the product from Control Panel\Programs & Features. Manually delete the PMDG 777-200LR and PMDG 777F folders in FSX\SimObjects\Airplanes. Manually delete the FSX\PMDG\PMDG 777X folder. Manually delete the PMDG 777-200LR and PMDG 777F folders in C:\Users\(Your Windows Username)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\SimObjects - You may need to enable the Windows folder option "Show hidden files and folders" to see this location. Manually delete the PMDG_777X_3.ini file in the FSX/GAUGES folder. Reinstall from your RTM installer. Install SP1. Install the 300ER if you choose to purchase it.

mr340, I had same problem and resolved it about 1 hour ago, so I wanted to write what should you do to resolve it...anyway, you anticipated me By the way - it is interesting if "FSC" TEAM will make modifications in FSCaptain due to release SP1 and SDK accessibility Ps. I hope that current version of FSCaptain works with 777 SP1? Did you test it? Lucas

Hey Lucas , i did tested it works fine now when you fallow the steps i posted above. I had good feeling that it might work when i saw this step "Manually delete the PMDG_777X_3.ini file in the FSX/GAUGES folder" What i was worried at first was that pmdg warns users from uninstalling the 777 in that way. So i fallow PMDG TAB suggestion to fully uninstall an reinstall the aircraft. I have tested FS Captain with both 777-200 an 777-300 with SP1 all works well so far. The problem i had was very strange , even when i uninstall the ACARS from the 777 i still got low FPS. I had to uninstall the aircraft by going to Control Panel\Programs & Features an reinstall it again to regain FPS.Now all of those problem were solve by fully uninstalling the bird an reinstalling it. I'm a happy captain now.

Captains, That's good for us to know - that the ACARS itself likely wasn't causing the grief, and that you're up and flying again! So get in there and earn your Company all that virtual moolah! As for working with the SDK... I'm certain that when it's released (if it hasn't been released already - me = clueless) that Dutch will take a look to see what's possible.

Mr 340, Thanks for your kind words about FSCaptain! Yes you can use the standalone ACARS on a remote PC - it only needs the standard SimConnect mojo that other add-ons use. If you want to "backup proof" your install, just focus on the Aircraft Airlines Config Data and Sounds folders. (Only bother with Sounds if you have loads of custom music files.) Then when you reinstall, just overwrite those folders with your backups and you should have maintained your history.

I am having the same problem for some odd reason with PMDG MD-11. I was running Anchorage X and never had issues running the ACARs until today. I turned on the ACARs and logged in and noticed my FPS dropped to 5. I turned in off and closed the ACARS, my fps was back to 30 FPS.

I'll initially suspect a weather read going wacky. Shoot us an FCDU log of this event and I'll let you know.
(Since I was working in that area already....)

It's actually a near-inverse of the problem we solved earlier this week.
This is a bit more tricky (as it's an odd condition of simulator weather), but I will look into it today.
