It would be cool to have the option for different aircraft configurations. Certain airports will deice you with engines running (feathered however,) and some airports have you shut down the engine on the side being deiced. The you restart, and shut down the other side (so you always have a generator running. Or both engines shut down with just the APU running. The ice man could tell you what configuration he wants, and then you have to follow the procedure.

BJ, If our customers (in numbers) demand more realistic behavior from our new processes... well, we are all on the same side. Just know that with ground de-icing/anti-icing procedures, FSCaptain is attempting to stake out a small bit of ground in the MS/LM flight simulation space. This one area is certainly nothing new and nothing unusual... and we have ideas that would greatly expand this... and what you've asked for has been in our plans. Just know there's a difference between "spraying fluid on an aircraft from a truck" (which could always safely occur while engines are running) versus "using brooms, scrapers, and forced-air heaters" to clear ice from an aircraft (which can't do so per side as easily as you've noted) So before allowing such exceptions as you note to occur, our next step would necessarily be... to have Iceman work to port or starboard.

Simaddons.com has many airports with animated de-icing facilities that are not located at the gates (as in real life on these airports). It would be great if one could tell FSCaptain that one is at these facilities to start the de-icing procedure.

Peter, This too is in the planning stage for a future version of FSCaptain. Years ago, I reached out to Ralph at SimAddons, as well as to other "de-icing truck drivers" with no positive response from any of them. But a future version of FSCaptain should allow users to designate "off-ramp deicing pads." And more.... But there are other professional aviation aspects that may have to come before these extensions, so let's have hope. (I have wanted what you're asking for - for the past 3 years. Now we both have a taste of what we'd like to have. So with patience, I feel that we will have exactly what we'd both like. )
