Hey, not sure if this has been mentioned as I am new but.....
Wouldn't be great if along with your airline profile you can add a database of minimum weather requirements for any airport. For example, I like flying to my home airport of CYCG Castlegar BC Canada. On IFR days the minimums are insanely high compared to a CAT I ILS (ie. MDA 4,500 ASL). It would be neat if the FCOM would advise weather in CYCG is near or below minimums like other airports as defined by the generic settings. I think this would be really cool.

That's a very good idea. I like it. A set of minimums should be able to optionally be defined for specific aircraft too. Both would override the airline minimums if specified.

Thanks, for example this morning, departing Vancouver for Castlegar.
Vancouver METAR CYVR 021500Z 11003KT 1/2SM FG VV002 01/M00 A3037 RMK FG8 RVR 08L 2800FT 08R 3000FT SLP285=
Castlegar METAR CYCG 021500Z 00000KT 10SM OVC017 01/M02 A3047 RMK SC8 SLP339=
Dispatch put me on a weather hold for departure. However, the mins at CYCG are 2,876 AGL (so it's almost 1,200 below mins). This flight would be cancelled. lol
Hope to see this feature in a near future update. Cheers

The decision to cancel, at least in FSCaptain, rests always with the Captain. It will never insist you cancel a flight even if in the real world it would be illegal to fly it.

Are minimums also linked to the pilot. e.g. Captains can fly lower minimum approaches than First Officers?

Nope, all the same to us here in simulation land. The minimum rules are very simplistic compared to the real world. Someday we may enhance them.

I missed this thread when it was active and I apologize. I really like this idea of airport-specific minimums and will add it to the list of things I'd like to see in future versions of FSCaptain. (That sound you hear is Dutch grimacing... thinking, "He's back to campaigning again!")

That's really interesting... It could also help define the airports that your specific operator is authorized to do CAT III approaches.

You know, you're right. That's something that's bugged me for a long time. There are some default and some third-party aircraft which allow you do perform an autoland just as long as there's a glideslope available. That's not the real case though.... I know that BGL data can contain a reference to an ILS being "CAT II" or not... but such data hasn't been updated. Nor does it take RNP into account. I'm going to let this stew with me. And I'll combine it with my want of a good "CAT II/III autoland checkride" process....
