Please bear with me as this might be a little long.
-Specific aircraft assignments-
Like a lot of Airlines, my Airlines has a fleet of aircraft and not just a single aircraft for each type we fly. What I would like to see added is a way to assign, or have assigned, randomly to each flight a specific aircraft by a registration number.
A simple randomly generated registration number based on the country code for the airline country of origin would be great, but I would also like to see it expanded a bit to allow for editing of the numbers much like is permitted with the flight numbering.
Also a text file much like is used for specific airfields when generating HUBs could be used for the random assignment of user specified number to the generation of HUBS. Something along the lines of a list of aircraft listed by - aircraft type, aircraft size, and a registration number I was thinking.
I would also like to see added to the Airline Definitions page an option like the “Must Match ATC NAME and CODE” but for the “ATC_ID=” in the aircraft.cfg file for the registration numbers of specific aircraft.
-Aircraft logs and maintenance records-
Pilots review and sign the aircraft flight/maintenance log before and after each flight as I understand it. What I would like to see is this simulated in the program based on the aircraft registration numbers. Maybe along with the flight dispatch, another window showing the aircrafts flight history and maintenance record, based on the amount of flight hours it would have flown according to the flights it has been assigned to in the airlines schedule.
A basic maintenance schedule could be used to add maintenance entries based on the accumulated flight time for each registration number.
Periodic Service checks – 2-3 days
100 Hour Inspection
Altimeter System Inspection – every 24 months
Transponder Inspection – every 24 months
A. CHECK – 500-800 hours
B. CHECK – every 4-6 months
C. Check – Every 15-21 months
D. Check – 5-6 years
Also, any failures or problems that are encountered by the pilot during his flight should be able to be added to the aircraft's log.
Another thought would be to add a modifier to the possibility of a mechanical failure based on the time since the last maintenance inspection.
-Expanding the check ride feature/ type rating system-
I would like to see an option added to the Airline Definitions tab that allows the assignment of a specific number of hours to be set that must be flow each month (or a defined period of time) in order for a pilot to stay current in that type of aircraft, based on the aircraft size. If a pilot fails to meet those requirements they will have to pass another check ride to regain their certification and type rating for that aircraft again.
-Primary type rating –
A pilot’s primary type rating will be for the aircraft they have the most hours flying.
-Captains check rides-
Moving from the right to the left side of an aircraft (fixed wing) is a pretty big deal and accomplishment. But before you achieve it you have to pass a certification check ride as per the FAA regulations. I would like an option added that would require a check ride to be flown and passed based on a total score before a pilot is able to move up into a captain’s pay level. Maybe a specific flight can be set either by the airline or internally that must be flow based on aircraft size.
-Required Simulator time-
I don’t know about your airlines, but the one I fly for has a pretty good maintenance program and mechanical failures are quite uncommon. What I would like to see is a setting, once again under the Airline definitions tab, that would allow for time interval to be set, and once reached, a message would be posted requiring a pilot to attend simulator training. During the simulator training a random failure or mechanical problem would be at 100%. The results of this training could be listed on the Achievements tab.
-Flight Dispatch-
I would like to have the ability to select a pilot and have a flight/flights presented to me based on that pilot's type rating/ratings.
Well that is it for now
