Friends,
Is there a current consensus that the following tweaks are good for the following setup?
Affinity=14 (for my i7 4790K with HT disabled) Buffer Pools=0 (for my NVIDIA GTX 980) HIGHMEMFIX=1 (Forgot by Microsoft ACES Team) TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=120 (Recommended by NickN) FIBER_FRAME_FRACTION_TIME=0.15 (Recommended by NickN)
PC: Windows 7 x64 Ultimate i7 4790K (Overclocked to 5.0 Stable) NVIDIA GTX 980 (v344.11 Drivers) 8GB RAM at 2933MHz Intel 530 240GB SSD (Latest Firmware and SSD Toolbox)
Details: FSX Retail DirectX 10 mode enabled w/ Steve's DirectX 10 Fixer v.2.8 Active Sky Next v.5589 A2A C182 Aircraft FSCaptain v.1.6.2
I ask because I've had 2 CTDs recently but I believe it may be ASN causing this...
Thank you Friends!

Hi FSXlover, as far as I know there are only two tweaks that are universally accepted as useful: - HIGHMEMFIX=1 as you suggest - uiautomationcore.dll fix, see forums.flightsimlabs.com/index.php?/topic/3516-fsx-and-windows-7-in-64-bits-needs-uiautomationcoredll-to-stop-crashing/All the rest depends on your system. You have a strong system with not too much RAM. I would play around (and read more about) the affinity mask, which can make a big difference. I also would suggest to play with FIBER_FRAME_FRACTION_TIME. I think I had it at 0.11 before I moved to P3D. ASN is a pretty good program, but it generates complex weather. If you have many clouds and fly over an urban area, CTDs can become more likely. I had to set my scenery settings to really low values when I flew with PMDG planes, otherwise FSX couldn't survive. However, my system is generally quite a bit worse than yours. Cheers, Peter

Thank you very much Peter!
I'm dropping the FFFT and BP tweaks, they will do more harm than good and I only care about stability these days...

The best advice I can offer is to only test one thing / one change at a time. Keep a record/backup of old settings so a reverse course correction can be easily accomplished....
