The website www.fscaptain.net now contains FSCaptain beta version 07.08, and a cumulative Fixpack to upgrade any field version to 07.08. See the README.txt in each for more details.
Version 07.08 contains some significant enhancements, mainly in the area of more fully supporting scheduled flights.
- Schedules can now be maintained from the Administrator.
- The 'day of week' option for schedules is implemented.
- The 'volume class' parameter in a scheduled flight has been redefined to be 'minimum volume class required'. Thus you can fly a flight in a larger aircraft than the parameter, but not a smaller one.
- Multi-leg scheduled flights can now be created! Up to six legs per flight. The FCOM fully supports the multiple-leg concept and will automatically switch you to the next leg once you unload.
- A Hub Schedule Generator is available that can generate realistic hub schedules from parameters you supply.
- A Schedule Import feature will allow you to import schedules from the Traffic Tools AI database formats into FSCaptain. This effectively lets you extract any AI flight plans from FS itself and turn them into FSCaptain schedules.
- A utility to rebuild the airports database, and to access the Installer from the Administrator are now available.
- Eight new announcements to passengers are accessible from the Communications page of the FCOM. These are not just cosmetic: keeping passengers informed will increase their satisfaction, and maybe gain you positive comments or avoid negative ones.
And more...check out the README file.
Warning! The new airline options required that the default .cfg files be distributed with the Fixpack. If you have changed any options for the six default airlines you'll have to re-make the changes. If you added any airlines they will not be affected, nor will the schedules be affected.
This Fixpack will also overwrite the aircraft characteristics for the airplanes that are standard with FSCaptain! If you have modified any of these, you will need to make provisions to save the changes before loading the fixpack.
Hope you enjoy 07.08!
