I have been trying the demo and I like what I have seen so far but I do have some questions perhaps you can help me with???
1. Is it possible to export a flight to a VA using the demo program? I have FSPassengers and have never had a problem connecting to or exporting flights to my VA in the past. I took the VA.cfg file out of FS Passengers and copied it into FS Captain renaming it VADefault.cfg as per the manual instructions on PG 27 but I keep getting the "Unable to connect to VA" message when trying to export a completed flight?
2. How can I increase the volume of the copilot and crew sound effects? I can't hear them over the noise of the engine? Inside the FSX Sound options I have the engine volume down to 25% and the Voice Volume at 100% but still cant here any announcements over the engines on the PMDG J41.
3. Weather Updates, I use Active Sky Evolution and what the FCOM is telling me at my destination and what ASA is telling me are two totally different pictures. ASA is getting it's info from Vatsim and loading it into FSX. How is the FCOM getting it's weather info? and more importantly how can I get it to remain congruent with what ASE is populating into FSX?
If you can help me get this stuff sorted I'll more than likely buy the license.
Thanks, Robert

Hi Robert,
Let's see if we can get these problems sorted out.
The export should work with the demo program. Using the default contents of the VADefault.cfg that came with FSCaptain, can you export your flight to the test database at FSCaptain.net? If so, the basic mechanism is working, and it's some kind of configuration mismatch...in which case, could you send me your VA.cfg from FSP to dutch@fscaptain.net and maybe I can figure it out.
There is a configuration file, Sound.cfg, in the FSCaptain\Config folder. Open that with Notepad. You will see two parameters, VoiceFA and VoiceFO. Increase the numbers on those will increase the volume of the voices.
FCOM gets its weather reports by reading the weather station info that's stored in each weather station's data in FSX (or FS9) by using either SimConnect (for FSX) or FSUIPC (for FS9). The flight planning section of the Administrator, by contrast, reads it's weather data from the Jeppeson weather reporting service on the Internet.
Hope this helps, Dutch

Question #1 Can't test because I deleted the Default .cfg file. I'm sure I followed the directions correctly...hmmm Question #2 Solved Thanks ;D Question #3 I Understand but why then when I fire up the FCOM from inside the cockpit and look through the available flights if I sellect the Sx at destination it tells me the Station information has not been loaded? That's with or without ASE running. Looks like I'll need to experiment more? Since it looks like you could have a marketplace within the Virtual Airline Community and many of the V/A's (including the one I fly for) require you to log your flight on Vatsim do you think in a future update you could include a weather option that would download the weather info from Vatsim into the FCom at pre-set selectable intervals? Thanks, More Later, Robert

Update Question #1 reloaded the Default and tested all appears to be OK. I sent my CFG to your email address as you asked. Question #2 Not fixed my ears must have been playing tricks on me I bumped up the level by 5 and thought I noticed the difference even though they were still too low. I went back and bumped them up again, still too low. Now I have every setting except the decrease when cabin door shuts to 99 and can still barely hear my FO. Any other Ideas? Question #3 I Set the weather inside of ASE to Global mode while selecting the option to force destination weather zone and got similar weather update on the FCOM as I made my way to my destination. I really like your product but I want to get these issues I'm experiencing worked out. Also is there a keyboard command or a way to assign the FCOM function buttons. I would like to build a "hardware" FCOM device and assign the function buttons of the FCOM to momentary switches in order to get away from having to use the mouse

I bought the program now I am beginning to have buyer's remorse. The sound of crickets chirping in this forum are louder than my F/O

Yeah, I'd like more action too... I also use ASE but not DWC since it produces problems for Radar Contact. I never get proper Destination Weather (at the beginning of the flight I don't get any destination weather.. unable or something). But probably that's a FSX / ASE problem.

On #1 - Here's the contents of the default VADefault.cfg:
NAME=FSCaptain VA Interface Test SITE=www.FSCaptain.net EXPORT=vat/FsPgetflight.php USER=test PASSWORD=demo
On #2 -- I don't understand the audio issues with the announcements but you can bump the level up by much more than 5 - 5 is a pretty slight adjustment. Bump it up by 50 and see what happens. Audio for FSCaptain is channeled through the Windows Media Player than that number is fed directly in to that system to control the volume. The numbers I chose were based on my experience with several computers I own, and seem to work for most, but I knew some might need adjustment. Experiment.
On #3 -- YES I'd like to download weather from VATSIM, I'm not entirely happy with the results from Jeppesen.
I'm sorry I haven't gotten here every day to reply. I'll try and do better.

Dutch, thanks for the reply but didn't you read the thread? I've done those things, still nothing. Maybe if you look at the .cfg I sent to you you can figure out the link to the VA?
I hope you do come here more often and try to help, right now I want to use and enjoy your program but with the problems I have experienced it's currently grounded and I would be unable to recommend it to anyone. Hopefully, my opinion will change if and when I'm able to use the program as it was designed.

All FO and FA voice data is played through the Windows MCI (media Control Interface). It may be that this is muted somehow in windows. Although a Google search didn't indicate any obvious solution, I feel like the problem lies in this direction. I'll keep looking.
