During a recent test, I was shocked (but also pleasantly surprised at the same time) when A MiG-21 made a head-on pass at me just West of Cat Bi Airbase (Haiphong).
I was testing a Crusader loaded with Zuni rockets and MK-82's so I was kind of caught with my pants down when I first saw the MiG....especially since it wasn't anything I had added to the scenario I had set up with CCP.
I think the MiG was present because I have AI flight plans (that I set up with AIFP a while ago) that have MiG's flying between all of the active MiG bases. So, apparently this MiG-21 was approaching Cat Bi and became lethal due to FSCAI being on and shot me in the face with either a missile or guns....not sure which, since it happened SUPER fast....and somehow the log file didn't get saved for some reason.
SO I started thinking "gee, a "Red Crown" or "Disco" warning notification saying "Blue Bandit, Bullseye, 110 at 45." would have been really nice to have.
So that got me thinking, would it be possible for a bullseye to be set and then have a text based notification of any bandits that are in an altitude of 500 ft to 50,000 ft. Hopefully it would allow setting the contact descriptions by airplane type. It could be "Bandit" as a generic warning and then be able to set other calls by the VEHICLES.CFG entries? For example, set "Blue Bandit" to equal the MiG-21 cfg entry, "Red Bandit" to the MiG-17 entry, etc... and if a contact does not have an entry set it is called out simply as "Bandit".
The latitude and longitude coordinates could be found using either CCP or the freeware TCalcX_002 utility.
Anyway, it would really be useful.

...or you just pay attention! No, it really would be a nice feature. I think it could be part of the Ground-controlled interception (GCI) that is planned for the next "big" update. HAJO

HAJO Hehe, I know, right! Actually, we were closing head-on (and I even had labels on) and the closure rate was very fast. As soon as I saw it I immediately switched to guns and right when I pulled the trigger I heard a loud bang and my engine, instruments and gun sight went dead. I still had flight controls though, so jettisoned the bombs and pylons and turned towards the coast....hopefully to get out over the water. When I switched to external view, I saw sparks, flames and black smoke coming from my airplane. I just though of something else that would be cool. If you have a wingman and you receive damage, it would be nice if they said something to let you know like ... "Hey lead.... "...I'm seeing parts fall off your airplane." "...you're taking ground fire!" "...you're on fire!" "...punch out!" "...they really hosed you on that last pass!" "...good luck, we'll see you back at the O Club!"
