I'm using the Diamond twin Star. It is coded as "tiny" with no first officer or crew. On my last flight I was penalized for bad service. I assume that this is a bug.
I was also dinged for Ear Pressure pain. Does anyone know what the max fpm is for climb and descent to avoid the penalty?

When I started with FSCaptain I was flying a Piper Arrow and had a few issues with descent speed. Unfortunately I deleted everything and started again once I'd got the hang of FSC so I can't look back and check but I seem to remember the Areas of Concern tab mentioning decent over 1500 fpm in an unpressurised aircraft. As for the bad service, can't help with that but first thing that came to mind (if it's not a bug) is could this be down to not making announcements to your passengers?

I think 1500 fpm is way too high. I think it's closer to 600 or 700 fpm.
I wasn't able to make any announcements. I tried the welcome announcement and nothing happened. I'll try again on my next flight.

I also think it's 700 but can't remember (and can't find in the manual) where I heard this. Since I try not to exceed 700 fpm (although sometimes I do it for a few seconds) I don't get this message anymore.

Managed to dig out the old airline. You’re right, the area of concern was – You MUST limit your rate of climb or descent to under 700fpm. As for the announcements, mine worked fine so that could well be the problem for you.

About welcome announcements.. if I press it on the small aircraft I don't hear any sounds (welcome announcements).. is this normal? I hear welcome from the captain just on big birds with crew. In my opinion the pilot could say "Hello" even on smaller airplanes.

I agree. I hear no sounds on aircraft without a copilot and attendant. However, if you click on the welcome announcement it will go away as if an announcement was actually made.

Not to hijack this thread, but I can't hear any announcements on any aircraft. I hear speed callouts, and reminders about transition alt, and such, but nothing for the rest of the flight. No welcomes, etc. Anybody have an idea?

Did you choose "Welcome" under "Announcements" in FCOM? The announcements are not automatic (as far as I know).

Did you choose "Welcome" under "Announcements" in FCOM? The announcements are not automatic (as far as I know). Yeah, I use the buttons. If there's music playing, it cuts out as if there were an announcement being made, but no other sounds come across. The music starts up again after what I assume is the message, but if there's no other sound happening, there's no way to tell it did anything. I wouldn't have a problem with it if there were no other sound files, but since there are, and no .cfg's to manipulate them (that I can see), I came here.

If you are hearing music, the sound system is working. Not hearing announcements is baffling. I'll look into it to see what the difference is, maybe that will give us a clue.

I'd be great if the captain would say a word or two to passengers on a/c without FO (small, GA stuff). Now, they are just looking at each other in silence.

That's an obvious point -- on non-FO flight there needs to be a captain's menu. No way to make it seem realistic, but there are limits to what we can do in FS anyway. You're right, that needs to be an option.
