That is: the start window is ok when FSX is just loaded, but whenever I return from a flight, the window becomes garbled and (partially and sometimes) unresponsive. Uninstalling FSCaptain fixes the problem. It happens even if FSCaptain is not used/invoked from inside the simulation.
BTW, FSX Acceleration Spanish edition here, running on Windows XP SP3 Spanish.

If FSCaptain is not used or invoked I'm at a total loss as to why this is happening. Anyone have any ideas? None of the FSCaptain code is executed unless it's used, so it can't be that it's corrupting FSX.

Try downloading and installing UIAutomationCore.dll. See this post (and others): forums1.avsim.net/index.php?showtopic=290282&hl=UIAutomationCore.dllI know you're running XP--try it anyways. Also, if you have DisablePreload=1 in your fsx.cfg change it to DisablePreload=0. I don't know if one or both of these will have any effect but it's worth a try.
