Hi Dutch,
I have been one of the first to buy FSCaptain last year. And I have been extremely patient waiting for THE bug to get ironed out: The inablity of FSCaptain to corretly read the airport database from FSX.
As you said yourself, this is a MAJOR bug, and in the end it renders FSCaptain useless.
Now, more than 6 months after the bug was first discussed, it still is there, and despite your promise to constantly update FSCapatin, nothing changed. I feel ripped off, to be honest. I can't use FSCaptain the way it is advertised, and while I have a lot of understanding for the fact that bugs are inevitable, I have NO understanding that this major bug doesn't get fixed.
I know that I am not the only person that has FSCapatin gathering dust because of this, and I - sorry - demand that we get an update on the status of the bug and a promise that it will be fixed within reasonable time.
Either that, or I will try to get my money back. And I am so fed up that I have no doubt that I will go lengths to get this happen.
My full understanding that software programming isn't an easy job and you have a life apart from that, but I paid for something that is pretty useless, and a deal involves both sides - mine AND yours.
PS: Why don't you just use makerunways for the job of building the airport database? Or why don't you contact other developers like those from Air Hauler? They managed to get this working, and it should be possible for FSCaptain as well...

hi Darem, I don't understand what your problem is. I've been using FS captain since september 09 and never had an issue with the airport database. I select different airports with their ICAO codes and always get the correct airport either for departure or destination . I fly in the US only. What is your bug about?

The bug he is referring to is the inability to update the airport database. Doing so deletes many airports from the data base. I am holding off purchasing FSCaptain until the bug fix because most of the airports I fly in and out of have been modified with updated runways and/or taxiways.

Folks,
This is the most frustrating bug I've run into in a long time, because I can't get it to fail, and unless I can spot it failing I'm reduced to guesswork as to what the problem is. What I've done is added new more detailed logging to the process to try and figure what it's doing wrong.
I can't use other products (at least, I haven't found one I can use) because FSCaptain requires some specific codes from the FS airport database that other airport runway builders don't include. Otherwise, I'd never have taken on the rather difficult and annoying task of trying to get this done myself.
As for the fact that others do it successfully, I'd love to have access to their source code to compare to mine, that would be helpful, but I don't have access so far as I know.
I'm frustrated by the situation and hope to have it resolved soon after 1.1.2 hits the field and I get the new logs sent back to me.

Dutch,
might it be that the bug only happens on operating systems with foreign language? I am running a german os and a german FSX

I don't think the language has anything to do with it -- I have English FSers (FS9 and FSX) that have this problem. I'm going to await input in the form of logs before I speculate further.

I believe they are referring to the FSCaptain database. Anyways, the latest version purports to fix this problem. Has this been confirmed by those having the problem?

All reports from the field so far indicate the problem is solved.
Thanks to all for helping with this.
