I tried the demo version of FSCaptain last night and I am having a problem after a flight. As soon as I end a flight FSX crashes. When it goes back to the FSX main screen, the display is screwed up and there appears to be some text from a dialog (looks like yes/no/close buttons) but as soon as I click on anything it crashes. Is there a log or crash file generated that I can post?
I don't know if my system and versions are causing any problems. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I am also running FSX Deluxe + Acceleration expansion. I am also running the game in DX10 preview mode.

As scenery designer for a Virtual Airline, I have seen many issues caused by running FSX in DX10 preview mode. We recommend that it be disabled. I couldn't possibly know that that is your problem, but based on my experience with DX10, I would recommend trying again with DX10 preview mode unchecked.

This is the first I've heard of this problem, and I'd like to know more. Try experimenting with the DX10 option off to see if that makes it go away. Also you could try and re-install (just install again on top of whats there) if you haven't already. Sometimes (I have no idea how!) things don't work right and a re-install fixes them.
Keep me posted and we'll get to the bottom of this.

Well, I don't know what exactly caused the problem but it appears the demo worked. I had uninstalled FSCaptain, and then reinstalled it. I also turned off DX10 preview. I was able to complete a flight and it showed up in the FCOM as a complete flight that was logged. I exited back to the menu and the screen was not wonky and there was no crash. The sound of the engine was still going, but that could just be FSX.
I do have a question though. I chose the flight through the FCOM and it said it was logged. However, when I go to the FSCaptain admin I don't see my flight. I also went back into a free fly and no history showed up in the FCOM. Is it a problem the flight was not logged or is that because I am running the demo version?
Just want to make sure everything is good before completing the purchase. App looks like it will be a lot of fun.

It should log your flight in demo mode, and those flights will count towards your career after you register (you could, if you wanted, have a full career in the demo if you are happy with the three airports.)
Someone else had a logging problem but did something and it went away. I think is was another of the blasted super-secure lockdowns in Vista, but I can't remember at the moment.
Time to look thru the posts here and see if we can find it...
