Think outside the box...
Here's some things to try on your next FSCaptain flight. Remember, there's a button on the Administrator log tab called "Erase Last Flight". It will do exactly that -- erase the last flight in the log. I know some of you don't want to contaminate your budding careers with junk flights that will reduce your score.
1. Next takeoff, steer deliberately off the runway but don't hit anything if you can avoid it -- put on the brakes and stop. What happens?
2. Jack the mechanical failure percent up to 99.5 or so and deal with whatever failures hit you -- which they will on every flight!
This will test the emergency modes and the evacuation modes when you land. Yes -- you can order an evacuation of the aircraft.
3. Same with the other failures -- bird strike, blown tire. What are they like?
4. Try long flights -- across the pond maybe. Does Dispatch give you good estimates? How closely does your actual performance match the projected ones?
5. Set your weather to marginal, then reduce it to below minimums at your destination after you take off. What happens? Try to divert to your alternate, see how Dispatch handles that.
6. Set weather below minimums before you start your flight. What happens?
