We often make changes and correct bugs in FSCaptain. Unlike the "Microsoft Model" of FS customer support (make a great game, put out a service pack or two if you have to, then forget it and start planning the next version) FSCaptain will constantly improve and evolve. You'll always be able to come to the website and get the latest version.
Here's how the update scheme works. There are usually two downloads on the website:
1) The "FSCaptain.zip". This is the whole shebag, kit and kaboodle. It's for people who don't have FSCaptain at all. You could, if you wanted to, download this and re-install it over an exiting version. Your logs and settings will be preserved -- except for any changes you may have made to the seven default airlines or any of the default aircraft files or load maps. Those would be replaced by the re-install. This is one way to upgrade to the "latest and greatest" version. But there's a quicker and easier way...
2) The "Cumulative Fixpack to Version X.YY.ZZ". This contains all the changes from way back to version 1.00.00. If you have installed FSCaptain before -- it doesn't matter which version -- install this and you'll have the latest and greatest version -- the exact same one that is in the "FSCaptain.zip" or perhaps even better. If the current version isn't the one you have this is the best way to upgrade because this will be a smaller and quicker download than the whole thing. If there is no "cumulative Fixpack" then the "FSCaptain.zip" is the latest and greatest version all by itself.
Hope this is clear!
