Hi Lane!
Good to have you here.
What happens when you run the exe is that FSCaptain will be installed into your FS folder, and a couple of programs will be placed in your Windows start menu and on the desktop.
FSCaptain goes in a single folder called, you guessed it, "FSCaptain". Also, a gauge called the FCOM will be placed in your gauges folder.
There's an uninstall program that will remove all this from your installation if you don't like it.
When you run the exe it will execute the FCOM installer program for you. You can then choose which airplanes to install the FCOM gauge into. These will be the ones you'll use to fly for the airline you want to be employed by. I'd suggest, for example, you install it in your DC-3C for starters to see if you like using it.
The FCOM installer is also a remover and will remove the FCOM guage from any airplane cleanly. It should be easy and intuitive to use -- if not I need to improve it. That's part of what this beta is all about!
The bottom line is: don't worry, this won't mess up your flight sim, and you can uninstall it easily if you want.
Hope this helps, Dutch

Sure, Lane. There's no official beta tester sign-up. If you try it and give me your feedback, you're a beta tester. But I maintain a list of those who've helped and who've given me an email address, to which I'll send a free registration code that'll work for all future versions of the program. Registered users can fly anywhere in the world, unregistered are limited to starting from three airports in the pacific northwest area. When you install FSCaptain, you'll see this screen after the installation is complete: You'll see the list of all your airplanes in alphabetical order. Find the DC-3C in the list, click on it, and then click the "Install" button. You'll then be shown a list of all the windows in the panel where you choose where to install the FCOM. I usually pick the 5th or 6th one. Note what it says to bring up your window - SHIFT-F7 or something like that. There's an error in your copy (I've already fixed it)...don't press Shift-F7 just Shift-7, like normal. After you install the FCOM gauge in the DC-3C, you can close the Installer window. Once you quit the installation program, you'll have a look at the Administrator program: The button at the top of the screen where mine here says "Change Airline and/or Pilot" will say "Seek Employment" because you haven't signed on with an airline yet. When you click on that you'll get a box that'll ask for your name and what airline you want to fly for. Just type in your name and accept the default of "Landmark" and click on OK. Now you're almost ready to go. Start up Flight Simulator, and pick the DC-3C and locate it at either KSEA, KOLM, or KPDX airports. Now when you press Shift-7 (or whichever based on what the installer told you) you'll see the FCOM (Flight Communicator) you'll use to talk to Landmark's Dispatch office. Click on the PWR button to power it up, then click on F1 on the screen (not your keyboard!) to login to Dispatch. It'll look like this: Now, follow the instructions in the manual "FCOM Reference" in the documentation folder of your FSCaptain folder, or check out section 4 of the README.txt file to get an idea of how to use the FCOM. It's easier than it might appear from this write-up. Hope this helps, Dutch
