alexair: I found out that starting with the button from the first window does not work, but separate starting from the shortcut as administrator works fine. @dutch: It seems that the button has a wrong event connected to it. In Win7-x64, FSX is installed in \Program Files (x86) %Programfiles(x86)%, perhaps thats the problem with the button? Usually, it is a SUPER BAD idea to install FSX to the default directory in Win7 or even Vista. There are severe problems with permissions in that folder, even if you are an admin. Thus, it is recommended to install FSX or FS9 elsewhere. A lot of addons will NOT work with FSX at the default location.

Darem is right it's better to install to a folder outside the program files folder, however, in most cases it should work okay there.
I have made many changes to try and fix this issue and now I'm writing a log during the installer initialization to try and pinpoint the issue if it happens again.
