I have recently installed Fscaptain demo version and I am trialling it with the Majestic Q400, which I fly mostly.
I have tried 7 or 8 different flights but cannot get the FCDU to behave as it does in the tutorial. The FCDU shows the plane correctly but doesn't give me the opportunity to load pax etc. Just says ready to Taxi.
The opening page offers me choice of Manifest or Proceed. Proceed only takes me to a page with Total Payload and 'Specify Pax' written in white at the top.
If I go to the page with Resume written on right-hand side, it will take me to me scheduled flight but won't load.
I believe I have configured Administrator correctly, Aircraft and Load Map etc. I have disabled the default Dash8 config file.
I have made sure I am at the correct airport (EGCC) at the correct time with power and brake on.
I really want to buy the full version but I just want to check how the program works with the Q400.
Thanks

Hello POD, and thanks for your interest in FSCaptain.
I haven't flown the MJ Q400 in quite a while, and I may have to install it into FSX to see what's new these days.
This aircraft was the first major challenge for us to interface with, and while there are a few things about the aircraft which we had to make allowances for, we do have Test Captains who fly it regularly.
I'd like to see your FCDU logs from your attempts so I can get an idea of what settings you're using, and what might be happening. Since you're new to FSCaptain, you can simply ZIP (or otherwise compress) your entire FSCaptain\Data\Logs folder and email that to us. Our email addresses can be deduced from the hints on the forum thread which is linked to at the end of my .signature. Hint - they're our normal first names followed by the "at fscaptain.net" string....
I know that the default Load Map for this aircraft has Auto Payload disabled, but it also has Simulate Load enabled so you should be seeing a simulated PAX loading process.
P3D4 doesn't come with a good 'simple, default airliner' as FSX and FS9 had, so I can't suggest that you try things with a simple aircraft first. (I did port my default FSX 737-800 to 4.51 and am having a whale of a good time with it!)
With regards,

The Q400 is quite a challenge. My first flight with FSCaptain was in 2015 using FSX and the PMDG J41. I'm strictly P3D now (v4.5). I will not make a flight without it. FSCaptain adds so much more dimension to my flights. It took me some time to figure out the MAP and Overrides for any aircraft but once you get the hang of it you will know what to check and edit. Below are my two associated cfg files for comparison to yours in the Map and Override directory but please... don't simply replace. Keep in mind your settings may be different! Mine is set up with 2 Flight attendants which their weights are also factored with PFPX which... also made me also have to edit my aircraft.cfg file to add those 2 Flight attendants as load station#7!!! Since I have FS2Crew I had to disable the FA voices during pre and post flight as FS2Crew handles that.

Overrides
Take care!

Thanks for the files. That's really helpful as I also use PFPX and FS2Crew, although my FS2Crew doesn't seem to work with P3Dv4.5 as I bought the FSX version which I guess doesn't work with 64 bit. I have purchased FSCaptain now so I will try your config files as a test to see if it helps iron out my problems. Kind regards.

Anytime! There are a few more things that will make the weights match FSCaptain's manifest and the control panel for the MJQ400 to within a few pounds if you decide to stick with it.

I would like figures in PFPX, Flight Manifest and the Majestic load tool all to accord so any tips would be gratefully received. I did a short test flight from EGTE to EGSS and it all seem to work fine aside from the figures.
Regards.

Hi Pod265,
unfortunately, there is no interface (at least as far as I know) to import data to PFPX or to the load tool. That means you have to enter all data manually. You have two options:
1) Set the data (number of pax, fuel reserves, ...) in PFPX to what you like. Then create a FSCaptain flight and enter the flight details in the dispatcher.
2) If you want FSCaptain to generate a flight, I suggest the following procedure. - Use the Administrator to generate a flight. Select the flight (but do not commit yet) and have a look at the release document. It contains data about number of pax and cargo weight. - Enter these data into PFPX or the load manager. Create a route with PFPX and export it to .pln format (standard FSX/P3D flight plans). - Select this flight plan in the FSCaptain Administrator and manually override flight duration and fuel to what PFPX or the load manager gave you. - Have another look at the release document; if you are satisfied with it, commit to the flight.
Cheers, Peter

Thanks for all the advice but I am still having problems and might have to change planes. I am using Administrator to create flight from EGTE to EDDF. I load a plan and commit. In P3D, I load the Q400 at EGTE, at the correct time, date, 30 mins before departure, plane powered and doors open. Turn on FCDU which shows MJ/ Q 400 and I login. Asks me if EGTE to EDDF is my flight, I answer yes but at no point does the simulate load begin which is due 10 mins before departure. On another page, it states that I have one other commitment, which is my flight but I cannot select it. Also the manifest page accords with the Q400 control panel but the stats page shows the incorrect weights. I believe I have followed all forum advice but clearly I am missing something. I have attached some photos which might give a clue to my problem. Regards Renzo

Hi Renzo,
it is possible that this is caused by faulty time zones in your simulator. Can you send us (click on the blue text below) a zip file containing your FSCaptain\Data\Logs directory? Please send it to everyone in the team and copy the html address of this thread in your message so that all of us can think about this.
Cheers, Peter

Email sent. I have just tried fscaptain with Fslabs A320 using same flight EGTE to EDDF and it worked perfectly which suggests problem with my Q400 pro.
Thanks

Renzo,
Let me work on a tutorial on how I do it with the Q400. I off to work so it may be a day or so.
