Trying to combine "checking my PMDG747 gauge" and "how to make one's own gauge" I discovered both heretofore unknown wing and engine (nacelle) anti ice signals. I'll tinker with it some late this evening and hope to have a 'beta' version uploaded before Sunday noon (PDT). Added: To note, the engine anti-ice signals appear to be properly handled by the FCOM in its current state. But my pax-sign signals need some work. I can turn the knob in the cockpit and the FCOM registers the change, but changing the signal from the FCOM doesn't change the knobs. The problem there is, a second later the FCOM sees that the knobs haven't changed and the FCOM accepts the knobs' position... undoing the change that the FCOM commanded. If I can't straighten that out, I might find myself smack dab in the old pickel barrel....

This may be pickles... it may be herring... it could even be pickled herring.... But here's my first draft PMDG747 interface for the base 747-400. (I haven't tested it in the -F model, and I don't have any other variants.) I hope this will handle the pax signs properly (but maybe only in the VC... the 2D knobs do not seem to be responsive) and I do attempt to set the MSFS engine anti-ice signal depending on the state of the Nacelle 1 anti-ice switch. I also try to set the wing anti-ice, but that signal doesn't seem to work properly. If you click the Left Baro STD button, it attempts to set the MSFS Barometer ala pressing the "B" key. Having either the Left or Right utility bus should power up the coffeemakers. I have access to the cabin temp control, but I'm unclear on the function of the other fan switches so your cabin temp is set to a static 21C for now. I cannot find where the cabin pressure values are, so the MSFS values are still in play. I opened the main door at FL300 and neither the PMDG nor the FSX cabin pressure values budged. - For those brave enough to test, please follow the instructions in the OP to install this for your bird.
- I've only tested this in FSX, so caveat FS9-tor.
- I've only tested this with FS Captain 1.3.1.
- I'll suggest that you don't invest in long flights to start with. It's possible that this interface may introduce what I'll call "new and unexpected problems," so think like a test pilot and keep your initial flights simple and reproduceable.
- If anyone really wants to simulate opening the main door at altitude, I think that I could pull that off. But really??
- Good luck!

Hi all,
Been using the amazing FSCaptain for a while, but cannot get my latest aircraft working with it. I have installed the Acars into the aircraft and checked the panel cfg etc, but when I go to login on the ACARS for the 1st time, it comes up CONFIGURATION ERROR ( in red ) then the following text. This ACARS cannot get a link with the flight data recorder guage which must be installed in the aircrafts panel.cfg file. Consult your installation instructions to fix this problem then re-load this aircraft. I have checked and I have both the FCDU ACARS & the FCOM FDR in my panel cfg as instructed. The aircraft is the A2A B17, and what a lovely plane it is.
Hope you guys are able to help me get it working with FSCaptain.
Cheers Rob Engvikson

Thanks for the reply Travis, I tried the suggestion, minus the line
gauge02=FCOMPNL!InterfaceCoolskyDC9, 1,1,1,1
As I dont have the Coolsky DC9
mine is as follows
[Window09] size_mm=191,445 position=8 visible=0 ident=24477 gauge00=FCDU!ACARS,1,1,191,445 gauge01=FCOM!FDR, 1,1,1,1
Any ideas?

My best suggestion for any airplane is to place the FCDU!FDR line in two places: the end of the lowest numbered [VCOCKpit??] section (usually Vcockpit00 or Vcockpit01, case doesn't matter) and the end of the [Window00] section.
Be sure the change the gauge01 to gauge?? where ?? is one greater than the highest gauge number in the section (usually, but not always, the last gauge line listed in the section).
You must find a separate window for the ACARS, and it looks something like:
[Window09] size_mm=191,445 position=8 visible=0 ident=24477 gauge00=FCDU!ACARS,1,1,191,445
...it is very unusual to have the FCDU!FDR line in any section other than VCockpit00 (or 01) and [Window00]. The Coolsky DC-9 is the only exception I can think of and I still don't know why that's necessary, or even how it works.
When you add a window (like the [Window09] example above you must also modify the [Windows] section up at the top of the panel.cfg so it has a line referring to the new window or it will never see it. Like this:
Window09=FCDU

Hmm, still didn't work. Guess this B-17 just doesn't want to play fair, lol.

Oh great. Now you're making we want to go and buy the darn thing. (Yes, I'm being the Wisenheimer that my profile has me flagged as. But I was a B-17 admirer as a child, since I had an uncle who was a mechanic who serviced them and who would never shut up about how great they were.)

haha, it is absolutely stunning plane, the crew even talk to you, ( especially when you fly it like a maniac pulling high G's hahaha ). So I should point out, I absolutely love the A2A B-17G , and also LOVE FSCaptain, in fact, I would HIGHLY recommend anyone to get them both. I just wish I could these two great addons to work together, hehe.

How about the airbus X extended? Just can't get it to work with FS2 Crew.

Well, after a couple of hours of trying different aircraft I cannot get a single one to load into P3D v2.5 without showing a configuration error using the simplified gauge. I've tried virtualcol, project opensky, overland,thomas ruth and absolutely non of them work. I've tried to manually add the FDR line into any panel config (none load automatically with the installer) and no go. All the gauges seem to be in their place and the fscaptain module is in the right place....any suggestions? I'm ready to give up...
an update that so far the only aircraft working is the Embraer 175 by VirtualCol. I can live with that for now but would love to have the other aircraft working, especially the project opensky stuff.
