Dutch, In a previous post you made mention of GSX so I figure you have a copy. I finally got my GSX running in FSX, apparently my SP2 was corrupt. Anyways I just wanted your opinion / suggestion on the best way to utilize the two. I'm sure GSX and FSC run good together, but I just wanted to know if you did any tweaking to GSX in order for it to run smoothly. I really like what I see in the trial ver. and I'm thinking of purchasing GSX.
Thanks, Gabe

It works excellently for me. We are hoping they will publish an API so that FSCaptain can automatically invoke some services and allow others to be manually done from the ACARS.
I start out by ordering up refueling and catering services. I use the option to suppress the FSX fuel dialog and just let the truck pull up though since I let FSCaptain do the actual fuel load. Both fuel truck and catering are just for realism's sake but I like all the activity around me while I to all the preflight stuff in the cockpit. Just feels more real than the total silence bit.
I customize the passenger loading so that it is over almost instantly, because I hate the GSX passenger loading looped sounds. They didn't go to the trouble we did to try and randomize a mix that sounds fairly realistic and not annoying. I feel sure they will improve that eventually.
At the point where I start the FSCaptain auto-load I also call for boarding to start from GSX (would be nice if this could be automatic.) FSCaptain handles the sound environment but GSX does the visuals, with baggage carts pulling up and loaders tossing suitcases etc.
FSCaptain will finish the passenger load before GSX will finish with the baggage - typical of the real world. (Unless you have slowed down the FSCaptain PAX load timing yourself.) I wait until the carts pull away and GSX tells me boarding is complete to proceed. There are usually checklist items to occupy my time. I would like for an interface so as to inhibit your departure clearance until GSX boarding is finished.
I use the GSX pushback. It's much better than any other pushback I've seen. It has realistic timing and pushes you back along the taxiways not just out on the tarmac at a distance and angle. (Sometimes though I want to scream out the window at the ground people to GET ON WITH IT since I'm on the clock at that point, but it's realistic.)
But the REAL treat of GSX is services when you land. Once you tell it your parking spot it will surround it by waiting vehicles with the size and number of those tailored to your airplane's size and load. It's easy to see your gate and there's a marshaller there to guide you in using standard hand signals.
If you're unfamiliar with the airport you can ask for a follow-me car and it will lead you right to the gate/ramp.
GSX works great with FSCaptain manually. It would be so sweet to have much of this happen automagically and we stand ready to implement that if FSDT will implement their sort-of-promised interface.

What Dutch said. I do have a fleshed-out plan of how FSCaptain could react to GSX events - so for example Dutch would be able to "not start the clock until the GSX pushback completes" - but that's only if the API is ever truly nixed. I'd hate to go all Rube Goldberg now only to have a "direct neural transfer" delivered in the near future.

Excellent Dutch and Travis. I've messed with the trial Ver. and I am defiantly going to purchase. It's been a while since I've used FSX. With FSC I will be switching back and forth between FS9 and FSX. I have a lot of nice addons for FS9, but with GSX, how can I not fly FSX. (Just wish I could get back into real flying). Speaking of FSX, I came across this site www.venetubo.com/fsx.htmland was wonder if you guys or anyone else that may read this post have used this tweak. I'm wondering if they are reliable. Also what are your thoughts on FS Limiter (if you have installed) Thanks, Gabe

Gabe, I use a mixture of those suggested tweaks (Jesus') as well as Kosta's and of course Nick's. I made my initial setup with Nick's doc and have gone here and there over the years. I'll suggest that you make a backup of the entire fsx.cfg file - as long as it seems to be working for you - and change one value, then reboot and run your flight Sim and see how things fare. That's a slow process, but that's me. I'm of the opinion that some graphical / textural / display-al tweaks are best applied to photoscenery where others are best used for "autogen scenery" so it might behoove you to have several fsx.cfg files that you use depending on your style of the day. No opinion on that (nor any other) limiter. I've gone from Unlimited to Limit of 30 and back again over the years, but I always used the FSX limiter when I did. I belive that newer Nvidia drivers can be used for such, but I've not gone there either.

Thanks for the tip Travis. I haven't updated my Nvidia drivers in a while. I figured everything was running smoothly. I think I'm at 275 something. I'm running about 18fps to 28 or so fps with no glitches, ect. in FSX. Did a couple of flights in FSX without FSC and all went well, so next flight I'll do will be with FSC. I still want to do a flight in FS9 to see how the 1.4ver. works out.
