FSCaptain 1.2.0 is available for download from the website. A Fixpack exists to upgrade any existing version, current users should use this rather than the entire download.
This is a major release containing a large number of new enhancements and many bug fixes over 1.1.6. It is essentially the same as the Release Candidate that's been available from the forums for about a month now.
A list of enhancements (from the README.txt file):
- Both the Administrator and the FCOM gauge will check the permissions of all vital FSCaptain folders
and refuse to execute if any is missing. You should receive an error message saying which folder and what operation failed on it. (On the FCOM this is shortened to R=Read RN=Rename W=Write and D=Delete.)
- FSCaptain is now aware of gates. Airlines can opt to assign you to a gate at your destination when you depart. You will be required to unload at your assigned gate (or another if that is not available or none was assigned) the only exceptions being some airlines can opt their cargo flights out of this requirement, or if there are no open parking spots at your destination. The FCOM contains heading and distance information displayed continuously to help you find your gate.
- New arrival times, service codes and aircraft type limitation on schedules
- When arrival times are provided on a route, FCOM will track and display your on-time performance based on those times. Airlines can opt to include your on-time performance against the schedule on your flight scores.
- You can leave the airport ICAO blank on the Dispatch screen to get a single-flight crew assignment randomly from your schedule (or a charter if there is no schedule.)
- Ability to pick up multi-leg flights at intermediate stops as a relief crew on the Dispatch screen (if you enter an airport.)
- Airport and Type will appear as defaults on the Dispatch screen if you invoke the Administrator from inside FS.
- Improved Dispatch Release, adding more information and correcting some bugs. Better fuel and ETE estimates.
- FCOM will detect (and Dispatch will allow extra ETE revisions for) delays caused by flying holding patterns, or delays caused by waiting on traffic prior to departure. It will also allocate an extra ETE revision if a go-around is detected during the landing sequence.
- FCOM has a new option "Weather Ahead" which searches for an airport in your flight path and displays a weather report from that airport. This replaces the previously buggy "Nearby Weather" option. Checking the "Clouds" section of the report will give you a decent chance of knowing when you are flying into turbulence or icing before you hit it, in a manner much like professionals do: asking for pilot reports.
- FCOM has a new "Offline Mode" option which will provide access to interesting data on any flight not just an FSCaptain flight, including weather and your flight performance.
- A database of appropriate transition altitudes for the countries of the world is included. FSCaptain will use this to select appropriate transition altitudes for the phases of your flight. The 'Transition Altitude' in the Airline definition is now a default used only when an airport cannot be found in this database.
- Weather reporting in FCOM has been "Cleaned up" a bit with outlandish FS numbers being replaced by more reasonable ones.
- New interface items have been added, and several new panels are available that you can add to aircraft to control cabin comfort levels for your PAX, including pressurization and temperature.
- Clicking on the top right screw of the FCOM will close it.
- Ground Protect: FCOM/FDR has background code that scans AI aircraft around you when on the ground, and if one is moving in your direction and is within 100 meters of you it will be stopped and kept still until you are over 100 meters away.
- The conditions under which you can get a complaint under the "Areas of Concern" tab have been relaxed. Percentages to trigger the complaints are somewhat higher, and a given number of flights (10 or 15) without the error will result in the complaint being suspended unless you start doing it again.
- You can supply a list of airports in a file and the Hub Generator will limit the destinations it generates to the airports defined in that file.
- External Administrator can now be minimized, but efforts to get it on the task bar were frustrated because Windows will not put a Property Sheet type object on the task bar.
- When the Administrator is being initialized it will check to see if an updated version of FSCaptain is available and will notify you if so. These reminders can be turned off by a 'Don't Remind Me Again' button. They will only happen every 5 days anyway.
- Cargo can be loaded without the A/C being powered up. PAX cannot however, unless the aircraft has no Flight Attendants.
- the First Officer will now warn you if he sees you are in too fast a taxi. Keep it under 28 knots.
- Pushbacks may now be done at 90, 45, and zero degree angles.
- The tabbing order on the Options, Airlines and Aircraft tabs of the Administrator has been arranged more logically.
- Clicking on the top left screw of the FCOM will stop the music currently playing. Music will not resume until the next flight phase.
- The FA will announce descent after you send the TOD report. If the report is not sent, the announcement will be upon passing the aircraft's service altitude.
- When flights are planned in the Administrator and an external weather source is configured the weather will be selected from that Wx source unless it is outdated -- then a choice of it or the Internet will appear.
- Two new options in the Options.cfg file: DISABLECRASH=1 will disable all crash detection in FSCaptain (not on FS9/X itself) and DISABLEPROTECT=1 will disable the new ground protection feature.
These problems are fixed in 1.02.00:
ID#0052: Airport KVCV was omitted from the database after a rebuild.
ID#0089: Flights are offered for which runway is below minimum for aircraft.
ID#0090: "Disabled" buttons on the communications page are really active.
ID#0092: Occasionally, pilot is unable to proceed from load complete when all three lines read "READY".
ID#0093: Fuel autoloader is loading way too little fuel to the plane if unit is set to KG.
ID#0094: APU fuel burn makes "Proceed" option vanish immediately after fuel has dropped below initial level.
ID#0095: Once you Commit to a flight the "Commit" button again will keep adding the same flight.
ID#0097: Fuel changes not being reflected in the dispatch release.
ID#0098: Booking a flight in the Administrator could result in an overloaded aircraft.
ID#0100: If you press F1=Proceed before door is closed it will open and you will not be ready again.
ID#0102: Changes sometimes not saved in administrator.
ID#0106: If you book your first flight ever for an airline in the administrator it won't be written to the log.
ID#0108: When changing to an airline with no log, the log for the previous airline is shown.
ID#0109: Having zero jumpeats on a cargo flight causes loop at departure.
ID#0110: When committed flights are changed sometimes they will be duplicated.
ID#0111: CvtLog does not convert log to .csv file.
ID#0112: F.O. will comment on belts when there are no PAX.
