Hello. I have a question about differences between 1.8.2 and 1.8.3 version. I flight only a charter flights and in flight dispatch release in 1.8.2 version in remarks it shows - PAX FLIGHT WITH OPTIONAL SNACK SERVICE, and in 1.8.3 version it shows - PAX FLIGHT WITH NO SERVICE. Is that supposed to be? Sorry English is not my native language. Attachments:

Hello Brheart,
welcome to the FSCaptain forum. This is probably not a difference in the two versions, but just a difference in how your charter flight is configured. Before you create a list of available flights in the Administrator under Flight Dispatch, you can click on the button "Specify flight details". The service code determines whether you will have a meal service or not. "Optional" means you can have a meal service (and make your passenger happier), but you won't get a penalty if you don't. You can learn more about this on p. 57 of the user guide.
The reason why your second flight has no service is probably because you either set the service code to -1, or the flight may be so short that a meal service is not possible. Cheers, Peter

I actually never use "Specify flight details", I just click on List Flights and choose one of the random flights that Flight Dispatch offer. Is the service code -1 default option in 1.8.3 version? Because I do same actions step by step in 1.8.2 and 1.8.3, but with different results.

Brheart, There were some changes in regards to "Service types and times" but nothing that I can think of would cause what you describe. However I need more data than screenshots can show before I know what to look at. (There are a few variables and events that I need to know about....) I would need you to use "Specify Flight Details" to Dispatch a flight from your base airport to any airport that you would normally fly to. I would need for you to specify an identical set of values for these fields: "PAX", "Cargo", and "Alternate ICAO". You should set the "Service Code" to zero. (That's the default value for this field. It leaves the choice of Cabin Service as optional.) If you can, please do so in your 1.8.2 Administrator - commit to the flight and then ZIP the "_manifest_", the "_preflight_", and the "_release_" files from your "\Data\Manifests\" folder. And then please add the ADMIN log file for that attempt from your "\Data\Logs\" folder.
After that, then please delete that Dispatched Flight, and then re-Dispatch the identical flight again in your 1.8.3 Administrator. Again, please ZIP the "_manifest_", the "_preflight_", and the "_release_" files from your "\Data\Manifests\" folder for 1.8.3, as well as the ADMIN log file from your "\Data\Logs\" folder. Then finally, delete that Dispatched Flight. Feel free to include extra ADMIN log files if you're not certain which ones to select. I'll find what I need. Best,

Travis, thank you for trying to help, but unfortunelly I only have time for one flight per week so it’ll take a while to collect all that data. I just checked, in 1.8.3 if I use "Specify Flight Details" , and set code to zero, then I get PAX FLIGHT WITH OPTIONAL MEAL SERVICE in dispatch release, but if I just click on List Flights, and choose random flight in random airport, then I get PAX FLIGHT WITH NO SERVICE. In 1.8.2 I get PAX FLIGHT WITH OPTIONAL MEAL SERVICE in both way. Interesting thing, in 1.8.3 if I first click on "Specify Flight Details", select destination airport, set code to zero and click OK, then click on "Specify Flight Details" again and delete code and airport, then I click on List Flights and choose random flight in random airport and I get PAX FLIGHT WITH OPTIONAL MEAL SERVICE in dispatch release. And that all the time if reject flight and choose another. And that last until I restart FSCaptain.

Your description led me to being able to reproduce this very easily. Yes, I found the culprit, and I must apologize for our testing system's failure to catch it. The fix looks amazingly easy. It will be in the Alpha 1 test build that should be public next January. Until then, here's my ideal workaround for having an optional snack/meal for those who do not like to use Specify Flight Details. (That's my preferred way to start a flight, mea culpa.) First, Dispatch the flight as it is in the Administrator.
Afterwards, go to your \FSCaptain\Data\Manifests\ folder and open the _preflight_ file that you've just created. If there's more than one _preflight_ file with your Company-Flight-Destination, select the one without a filename ending in An underscore symbol followed by A Number followed by the string ".txt".
In that file, look for this line... SERVICE_CODE=-1... then change the "-1" to a "0", and Save the File. Then you can choose from two possible options. I normally take the first option, but the second option is so much faster.... 1. You could open the Administrator again and go to the Flight Dispatch tab. Select the aircraft you are using, check the Departure airport is what you expect, and click on List Flights. You will then be asked a question which begins... "Do you want to re-dispatch existing commitment flt".... Respond "Yes", then go on to re-enter PLN, WX, Fuel & Block Time, and Parking data. Click "Commit" and your Dispatch Release will be updated. 2. Or you could just start your simulator, and when you're ready to go OUT... you'll have an updated Dispatch Release with a possible Optional Cabin Service. ----------- Also, please know that the timing of Cabin Service depends on a few factors that can be different from flight to flight. Initially it starts with a simple PAX / Attendants ratio. Then other factors, such as "classes of Service per PAX" changes the timing. So, two flights which can differ in any of these matters might not have a Service (e.g., if the Service Length is longer than the Flight Profile allows), or might either have an Optional Meal or an Optional Snack depending on the number of PAX on any given flight. Best,

Hello again Travis. After I installed FSCaptain 1.8.3 Service Pack Betta 1 a problem that mentioned in this thread was solved, but after I installed FSCaptain 1.8.3 Service Pack Release Candidate the problem has returned. And main window in betta version was horizontal, but in RC its vertical, is that suppose to be? Also in betta version was an option TDZ Grading on Landing although it was grey, and I can’t check it, but in RC there isn’t that option. Attachments:

Brheart, It could be that you have mixed versions of FSCaptain files. Version 1.8.2 and 1.8.3 had "tall Admin files" but starting with 1.8.3 Alpha, the Admin files were made "wide". Please send me an ADMIN log file from your current setup, and I will check things for you. The 1.8.3 Service Pack Release Candidate should have a non-disabled "TDZ Used for Nice Landing" checkbox. Best regards,

Jiminy Xmas! I crossed the wrong wires and the old version was uploaded by mistake. I've just now uploaded a build that I made late last week (I use SC-64, so I keep an updated copy of course). So please use this correct link with what should be the release version of 1.8.3 Service Pack as a Refresh Build. Sorry! www.fscaptain.net/downloads/159ZZfFR/FSCaptain_10803_SC-64.zipBest,

Sweet!
I'll hold the Release Candidate period open for another week (at least), so everyone should expect 1.8.3 Service Pack to go live on the weekend of July 16th.
Best regards,

Fixed! Sorry, but I must have a bad batch file that combines the correct files for the build process. I'll look into that in the next few weeks, so it doesn't happen again. Best,
