After initially working, when I load FSX I get this message:
Flight Simulator has detected a problem with a third-party
software program (add-on):
Name: FSCAI
Version: 0.1.9.0
Company: Systems unlimited
File: FSCAI\bin\FSCAID.dll
Do you want to run this software (not recommended)?
To avoid seeing this message in the future, uninstall this program
or disable its ability to start when running flight simulator. For
more information about third-party programs, contact the
publisher or see http:\www.fsinsider.com.
I have tried reinstalling (using the 32 bit version dated 200422) but I get the same message.
I should add that FSCAI runs without this problem on the same machine in P3Dv4.
Googling this I notice that this kind of error message arises in connection with a number of FSX add-ons but I haven't seen it reported in respect of FSCAI.
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?
Thanks
Mike

Mike,
That's a 'hair on fire' security protection from FSX and Windows, when one of the two thinks something nefarious has happened.
Please read the final Appendix in your User's Guide - it's currently titled "FSCaptainās RegFixer Utilities for FSX (yes, FSX only!)" - and follow the instructions there to run \FSCaptain\bin\RegFixer_FSCAI.exe.
That should fix your registry and allow FSCaptain / FSCAI to run again.
Please let us know if this works for you, or if it doesn't.
Best,

I've just now re-titled that Appendix using the error string; hopefully it should be an easier search for FSX Captains in the future. The new User Guide should be available either later today or sometime tomorrow along with 1.8.3 Gold Release. We're a bit short-handed and under-the-weather here at ACME Control, so things are moving at a glacial pace. Best,

Hi Travis
Thanks very much for the reply.
Unfortunately the fix hasn't worked.
I previously only had FSCAI installed, not FSC, but I have now installed the latter and run the two regfixer files. Here's the log for the FSCAI fixer:
"> FSCaptain Registry Fixer V1.0b > This utility checks for a set of Windows Registry values > which may prevent the FSCaptain FSCAI.DLL from being loaded > into FSX. > If this utility finds a reference to FSCAI.DLL, it will > give you the option to remove it, otherwise it will not modify > anything on your PC. >>> Press Y to begin checking, or press any other key to exit. C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\GNS Trainer\GNS\G530SIM.exe DISABLETHEMES C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz\Launcher64.exe HIGHDPIAWARE > FSCAI.DLL 'IgnoreFreeLibrary' value not found! Your Windows Registry does not need Fixing for FSCaptain! Hurray!! :-) Despite this, 2 values were found in the subkey and have been listed here."
On rebooting and running FSX I get the same "Flight Simulator has detected a problem with a third party software program add on" message. I clicked to run anyway and FSCAI didn't connect to FSX.
I then rebooted again but didn't get the "Flight Simulator has detected a problem with a third party software program add on" message but FSCAI now reports "monitoring active sim objects" without showing any - and there are twelve aircraft generated by Living World on the screen in addition to my own aircraft, none of which are shown on FSCAI.
Noticing that the entry in my dll.xml file had been changed from <Path>FSCAI\bin\FSCAID.dll</Path> to <Path>FSCaptain\bin\FSCAID.dll</Path> I changed it back again but now get a link error on FSCAI
If I need to share any other files or logs please let me know but your help will be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
That's my bad - I didn't think that you were running the standalone FSCAI.
I'll need to get up with Dutch to work out the details on how we can make a RegFixer for the standalone FSCAI.
We're rolling out the latest version of FSCaptain this weekend (today??) so I'll have to put you on a side burner for a while - sorry!
Best regards,

Mike, Let's see if we can get things working with your system straight away again. Can you try to install the last-published FSCAI from this download link - fscaptain.net/downloads/FSCAI_Alpha_SC32_200422.zipAfter you run the newly installed EXE, that should fix up your FSX's dll.xml file and in theory all should be okay. (Since FSCAI wasn't in the list of registry keys which you posted.) But if you do get the "thiry-party" warning, then download and run the RegFixer_FSCAID.EXE in the zip located here - fscaptain.net/downloads/RegFixer_FSCAID.zipKeep us posted on what happens. If you have to run RegFixer, please email us the log file it generates along with your FSX's dll.xml file! Best regards,

Travis
Many thanks.
I have re-installed FSCAI from that link. I don't get a third party warning on starting FSX. FSCAI seems to hang though - it doesn't get beyond a "Waiting for SimConnect Data" status with no active units shown.
I notice the relevant line in my fsx.cfg file now reads FSCAI\bin\FSCAID.dll.tzenotuhbuhneqrbqqqerzehwtkktzuohllqtqea=1
All thoughts welcome.
Many thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
ZIP and email us all of your FSCAI logs (they're in a \Logs\ folder inside the main FSCAI folder) and we'll take a look.
I'm fairly clueless about the workings of FSCAI, but at least all of the other items you've noted are positive.
Best,

Hi Mike,
I did receive your logs - thanks for sending pre-third party warning logs and post- logs!
I seem to see connections to SimConnect in each of the logs I looked at, but I need to get some time with Dutch to run some questions past him.
I'll have some ideas to you in email early next week. Sorry for the delays.
Best regards,

I'll have a look too and Travis and I will get our heads together and see if we can come up with something.
Probably this upcoming weekend is the first time I'll have any time or energy to look at it. Sorry, day job is sucking all my energy right now.

Hi Guys
I uninstalled FSCAI again and re-installed it and now don't get the third party warning but the program doesn't see any active units despite there being more than a dozen on my FSX screen. I think I have correctly specified my teams and assigned aircraft to teams - any suggestions for what I should look for next? I don't have this problem with P3D (but have a separate problem subject of another thread).
Thanks
Mike
