MAIW has recently released a new set of converted AI consisting of the "Century Series" fighters (F-100, F-101, F-102, F-104 and F-105) that will work in FSX and P3d. This is great news, since its actually not easy to convert their FS9 AI so that everything works properly in FSX and P3d. Here is the link to their file library: militaryaiworks.com/download-hangar/files-by-newest?start=0While there, I recommend their converted A-4, F-4 and F-8 AI if you don't already have them.

I have been creating repaints of the newly reworked MAIW F-105's of the 34th TFS (388 TFW) aircraft based at Korat RTAFB. I have 30 done so far and I took a little time to test them with CCP and FSCAI. In this screen shot, I'm providing SEAD escort for a couple flights of F-105D's headed to Kep airbase (NE of Hanoi). I'm flying an Alphasim F-105D armed with a Shrike, six M117's and a QRC-160 ECM pod (with Tacpack "mostly working"). The two flights of MAIW F-105D's are each armed with six M117's, an AIM-9B and a QRC-160 ECM pod. You can't see the second flight because they are 2.5 miles behind the first flight. Also, you can't see my FSCAI wingman, since he's 6.2 miles behind me...... doing who knows what.

Well, I wasn't able to see how the strike against Kep Airbase went, because right as I crossed onto North Vietnam, I ended up getting nailed by an Atoll AAM. According to the log, it was fired from a MiG-21 that was able to sneak up on my flight undetected (well, nobody issued any warnings and the log didn't indicate any wingmen saw it). So, I did added a flight of four F-4C's to escort the F-105's. I did this by editing the CCP xml file that I made for the Thunderchief flight and then, when i added it to the CCP monitor, I gave them a start time that was one minute earlier than the F-105's. To keep it historically accurate, I created three 555 TFS (8th TFW) paints to go along with the one 555 TFW paint that was originally included with the MAIW phantom set. I followed along for the whole three hour mission....which started at Korat and headed to Thud Ridge, then over to Kep airbase and then out over the Gulf of Tonkin where the flights turned South towards Da Nang. Once near the DMZ, the flights turned west before vanishing. It would have been pretty cool if they could have actually landed at Korat and Ubon. Maybe one day. So, two flights of four 34 TFS (388th TFW) F-105D's out of Korat RTAFB were escorted by a flight of four 555 TFS (8th TFW) F-4C's out of Ubon RTAFB and flew a pre-planned route to the target area and back. Because I was impatient and forgot to copy over the updated aircraft.cfg and Vehicles.cfg files, none of the flights actually attacked anything but overall, it was pretty good to see that the flights will go where I want them to go. here is what the escort flight looked like..... And here is a rare picture where my wingman is actually "sort of" still in formation with me...
