Greetings all,
I think it would be a good idea to be able to flag certain items as being loaded only on to dedicated heavy cargo aircraft. That way you don't have a 1967 Mustang being loaded into the luggage hold of a heavy passenger jet.
Thanks,
rpm.

Hi RPM, I don't understand your issues with such a nice car OK, more seriously: you can already do that, but you need to create a load map for your airplane. Under Administrator -> Load Maps, you may find the option "Only Allow Baggage" in the bottom right corner. Cheers, Peter

Peter,
Thanks for the response. I understand we have that option, but most airlines did in fact carry small to medium size cargo items on their passenger flights. A passenger configured DC-10 could carry over 52,000 lbs in the belly hold, a 747 could carry well over 123,000 lbs. The limitations on passenger configured aircraft are mainly due to the width and height of the object and whether or not it is classified as dangerous.
Thanks.

The best hack I can think of for this currently would be to change the aircraft's volume class to only accept the smaller cargo types. This can be done under the Aircraft Characteristics tab. Set it to "Small". Then only items in the items.cfg set to class 1 or 2 (as scripted by the third parameter) will be loaded in the aircraft.

That's not a bad idea really. Let me think on it... I'm wanting to release Service Pack 1 in a week or two, and if I can hit on an easy change I'll implement it.
Believe it or not, a few years ago I was toying with the idea of assigning "exit sizes" for aircraft... mostly to keep the Mustang from being loaded on a Passenger 737... but able to load it on a Cargo 777 or 747. LOL
So for the moment I'd suggest that you either change your aircraft's volume class, or change the item's required volume class so its only loaded on Heavy aircraft.
I'd favor changing the item's volume class first. Changing your aircraft's volume class might result in smaller parking areas being offered... plus there are a few "small aircraft" conditions that you might stumble into.
Best,

Best, I park so often at company gates, that I forgot it affected parking spaces.

Service Pack 1 will have a tweak to the parking spot calculator... if your Airline Code is three characters long (such as "ACA" or "BAW" or "UAL") then we will match parking spots with your three characters with a trailing "X" character. Likewise, if your Airline Code is four characters long ending with an "X", we will match parking spots with your first three characters.
The reason for this is that many legacy FS9-FSX developers would use "DALX" as a parking spot code for 'regional DAL' airlines, etc. So if you're flying "DAL" then you would match all "DAL" and "DALX" parking spots.
Vice versa, if you're flying "DALX" then you would also match all "DALX" and "DAL" parking spots.
Best,

Rpm,
I really didn't want to add a new field to handle this, so my idea to work this in is to add a "C" to the end of the Volume Class field - that's the third field in the Items.cfg file.
So the Mustang's data line would look like this.... 1900,1,4-4C,0,Car,s,1967 Mustang,0,6000And that item would only be considered for a Cargo flight on a Heavy aircraft. Other Items such as Goats, Tigers, Sheep, Cattle, Horses and Industrial Robots could also be limited to Cargo flights. Small amounts of Puppies and Kittens could still ride along on PAX flights of course.... I'm happy to accept comment on such a change, so speak now or have your peace ignored in the future. ---- I did look to the ninth field - Special Status - to indicate a great size or special dangerous-ness, but doing that could take a lot of time to map out "humorous" items. ("What? You won't fly with Snakes on this Plane??") Best,
