Hello guys, I am in the process of migrating to P3D v5 after the release of the long awaited Hotfix 2. As I cannot keep P3D v4.5 on my hard drive for obvious storage reasons, I was wondering what was the best procedure to be sure I keep all my FSC configs, options, records... when I switch from v4.5 to v5. I already made a complete backup of my FSCaptain folder and I was planning to uninstall everything and do a clean install using the latest v1.8.2 installer. Can you please confirm what files I need to copy/paste or overwrite if I do that? Apologies if this has already been explained elsewhere, I did not find the procedure Thank you for your help. Best regards, Michael

Hello Michael,
unless you have created some fancy custom configuration for FSCaptain, where, say, the log files are stored outside of FSCaptain's main directory, you should be fine: backing up the FSCaptain directory is normally all that is required. To install SCaptain in the new simulator, I would copy the backed-up FSCaptain folder into P3D v5's main directory and then install the latest FSCaptain fixpack.
Cheers, Peter

Hi!
I have migrating from P3Dv4 to P3Dv5. Tried to follow the steps by copying my backup directly into P3Dv5 folder and ran the latest FSCaptain fixpack. When finish installing I got a message it doesnt found the dll.xml file which is normal. But it asked for P3Dv4 path ( P3Dv4 folder (C:\Users\*****\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v4). Hit ok as I always do. Didnt even make a dll.xml in correct P3Dv5 folder (C:\Users\*****\AppData\Roaming\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v5.
As my P3D v4 is uninstalled and no reference to any folder or registry so it must refer to something in my backup even after installing FSCaptain fixpack. What to do now? Any suggestion?

Hi FSmicrox, Look in your P3D5's \FSCaptain\Config\ folder for a text file named "P3dinfo.cfg". If you find it, open it in a text editor and change the VERSION value to 5 and update the P3DROOT value to your new P3D5 folder. Also, if you find a file in the Config folder named "P3D4.ini", change its filename to "P3D5.ini"
Once you've done that, just run the Refresh or Fixpack installer into your P3D5 folder. Let us know if that helps! FSCaptain 1.8.3 Alpha 1 is only a few days away, and we want to make certain things are right.... Best,
