Hi,
AAW_Missile fly to the maximum speed of FSX (mach 4.4) and it's too fast.
I have created my own missile and tried to use it. Each missile is an aircraft.
So when ennemy fire a missile, the missile fire a missile and so on. The FSCAI list grows rapidly.
After few seconds, FSX and FSCAI are freezed because there is too many objects.
Is there a way to solve this problem and use our own missile ? Thanks. Best Regards, Pascal

I noticed the same (missiles flying too fast and do not follow "their" speed limit) and reported it here: fscaptain.proboards.com/post/26688/threadIt´s a good chance that the next beta will have taken care of it. HAJO

Yep we have the power to slow them down and make them fly at their rated speed. It'll be fixed next beta, out fairly soon now.

Dutch, is there some secret about the used model? In the thread I quoted above I mentionend that I tried to substitute the missile-model against another one (TacPack Harpoon), but for some reason it did not show up.

There shouldn't be any secret, it should spawn whatever title you give in the option. That's all it's doing with the generic default - using that title to spawn it. It's not doing anything special because it's a generic. The title of the object is simply "AAW_Missile". The title of the Tacpack Harpoon is "VRS_AI_AGM_AGM84D" or "VRS_AI_AGM_AGM84H". I haven't tried those specifically but if you tell me they don't work I'll add it to the list of things to look at. Thanks.

Thanks, a first test (over land, I´m currently on a transfer flight ) looked extremely promising! Don´t know why it didn´t work last time... HAJO

well, it did indeed *look* promising, since the desired model was now showing (TP AGM-84 Harpoon). Problem was: The missiles did not ignite their engines, so every time I launched one it slowed down until it stalled and impacted the ground.

Actually, they make very nice guided bombs that way! Although for some reason they blew up after a certain amount of flight time. When I dropped them from 12000ft, they never reached the ground, but exploded on their way. Just dropped a couple of them from 8000ft and they made a nice approach right into their target. Maybe they "realized" they wouldn´t hit their target and self-destructed?

Of course when you select a title you're not just selecting a model but a whole aircraft.cfg and .air file and so things may not work the same for just anything. Opens up a new avenue of research. The guided bomb effect is interesting. The only reason it exploded is the too-short missile timeout, which will be fixed next release. Is fixed now in testing. Dutch

Hi,
I have found the problem about my missile : atc_model of the missile (normaly not used) was the same as ennemy airplane atc_model. So when ennemy airplane fires a missile, FSCAI considered it as an another airplane...
After changing atc_model, FSCAI works fine. Sorry.

I will test with different models to be sure that a GBU-model is having roughly the same "glide" and flight dynamics as the Harpoon, and if it works good, we can claim GBUs as new toy in the inventory!
Maybe it will be necessary to change something in the general launch-parameters to avoid "short" drops - but I have the feeling that this would require at least some sort of interface with an "out of range"-message. This would also be necessary if GBUs should be used by AI-Aircraft.
