Hiya,
I changed my aircraft from pmdg 777 to Qualitysims 787 lately. It seems that smooth landings are not possible anymore in FSCaptain using the 787-10. Please take a look of the 787
Based on pilot reports and data, exceeding 240 FPM is a hard landing, which further confirms the 60-180 FPM to be an ideal firm value whether the landing is flown manually, or with the auto-land
My landing: TouchDownVertSpeedFt: -138 ft/mn and LandingSpeed: 150 kt LandingPitch: 4.17 But it do'nt reconise a smooth landing.

Hello Nicoderks,
the landing quality is subject to change lately. Based on user suggestions,Travis is implementing a new system where landing rates are configurable, and also where it matters that you stay within the landing zone of a runway. We need to see your logs to understand what affects your landing assessment. Can you send us (see blue link below) a zip file with your FSCaptain\Data\Log folder? Please send the email to all of us and copy the address of this thread into your message so that everyone on the FSCaptain team knows what the logs are for.
Cheers, Peter

Hi Nicoderks, I would need to see all FCDU and FSCaptain logs from your 787 flights. None of us own this aircraft, but I've been tempted to get it. I may throw caution to the winds and pick up one soon. As Peter noted, for the Beta 1 release which will occur in a few hours you can select a range of "PAX Smooth Landing" targets. The default is 0 to 200 fpm, with settings available to allow 100 to 300, 200 to 400, and 200 to 500. That's a global setting which applies to all airlines and all aircraft. (It's your judgement of what passengers would find to be smooth.) Now that's for passengers only. If you enable Aircraft Inspections, you can set your aircraft's configuration to force an Inspection at as little as 300 fpm. That's a first step in minding your Airline's requirements. Work to determine a valid TDZ will come in the future. Best,

Hi Nicoderks, I did pick up the QW787 today. Give me a week or two before I can make a reasonable flight in it though. Because of a silly error on my part, the Beta 1 release you have will only honor a minimum Inspection_Speed of 900 fpm. Give me a few hours and I'll post a new build that will allow you to go as low as 200 fpm for your testing. Best,

Hi Nico, Sorry for the delay in responding. I'm "off the PC" on my weekends for the next few weeks, and this weekend I was reading paper books and binge-watching QI Series "O" and the first few episodes of Star Trek: Picard. The aircraft looks lovely on my system and I made a simple 'spawn on the runway and take off' test to test my controllers and frame rates. I got as low as 18fps at Flightbeam KSFO, which was okay for me. Everything in the test flight went okay, so I'm hoping to actually make an actual flight one day. Once I have made some ISO test flights to get a good idea of the actual burn rates, I hope to try an EGLL-YPPH flight one day. Only 157 waypoints separate the two airports, and I'll need help to keep from landing on fumes. ----- I reviewed your logs for the flight where you landed at 131 FPM, and what I see is that you're using a LANDING_RATE_NICE setting of 3 - which says your PAX expect a landing rate from 200 to 500 FPM. So in actuality, you landed too gently for your PAX. If you want to get the bonus for landing below 200 FPM, then set the LANDING_RATE_NICE option to 0. Otherwise, try to land a little more firmly. It's your choice....
You can go to your Aircraft Configuration editor and set the Maximum Landing Inspection rate to a value above the "NICE" rate to flag any hard landings you may encounter. ----- Let me take a moment to describe what's involved in a "Nice Landing." It's a PAX-dependent award that relies on a few factors.... First, Don't Be Late. If the flight is late, the PAX won't be nearly as generous as they could otherwise have been. Hit Your Numbers. There's the Landing Rate to consider, but also your Landing Weight. If you're too heavy, something's bound to make a noise or otherwise "not feel right" to a PAX. You also need to keep the Pitch and Bank angles within the option.cfg values. And our values are very generous IIRC - +5 / -30 degrees Pitch and +/- 15 degrees Bank. You could wear down an aircraft's empennage or wings using those guidelines. (I use -10 and +/- 5 degrees, respectively.) Don't Have A Complainer. Complainers are random things, but you can help to calm down Complainers by making lots of Cabin Announcements. Finally... Don't Do Anything Silly. Don't land with the gear up, don't collide with a SimObject, don't bounce for more than a second (your flight bounced for 17/18ths of a second), and don't have a Runway Overrun. Even if you've done everything else correctly on a landing, if you wind up off the runway no one is going to feel happy. I hope this silly explanation helps. Ask away if you have any questions! Best,
