Hi, I had great success with the FSCAI a couple of years ago in P3dv4.3. I upgraded to P4dv4.5 and have just installed the latest FSCAI.
All I use is the ground units to shoot back at my aircraft, whilst I try to bomb them! I use the VRS Superbug and Ants Trojan with Tacpack.
My issue is the units don't appear to shoot at me. I am using Orbx New Guinea as my combat area. I start on AYPY and let the airports build (first run). I see on the new GUI that I can set scenario and sides. I choose allied for myself and communist for enemy. All the ground units are on the GUI. Mostly BMP, BDRM and Striker ZSU 4 etc. (I used these from FSC@war pack and P3d, using Simdirector to place them. This worked a couple of years ago)
I have to double click on every ground unit to reallocate their allegiance. Then I take off and fly to the targets. They don't shoot at me. When I bomb them and they are destroyed, FSCAI crashes and I have to reboot it.
So any idea what I may be doing wrong? I may put the 2 year old version back if I can't get this new FSCAI working?

OK, so I re tested this again and found the same issues.
1. No ground units fire at me. Even adding old favourites from the FSX@War pack, still ignore me. I am flying the VRS Superbug F18, with Tacpack installed, new release in P3d v4.5, latest release.1
2. Every time I destroy units, with bombs, the FSCAI GUI crashes, error says FSCAI has crashed?
3. when I reload FSCAI units show up on GUI, none appear to have been destroyed.
4. Every time I start the sim from the airfield AYPY, the sim runs the airport maker and needs each and every ground unit individually assigning a side, or team? Is there a way to assign all ground weaponised vehicles to enemy? With the old version it just worked automatically, when run, they all shot at me and hits and damage incurred.
So my question is, can I install my 2 year old FSCAI version 71127, over the install of the latest FSCAI? Or do I need to uninstall the new version and reinstall the old version?
I like the look of the new GUI but its not working for me.

Could you post or send to me a log from your latest FSCAI run? It's in FSCAI\Logs.
In answer to your question, it should be okay to install the latest version over the older one. But the logs will tell me what's going wrong, I think.

Like I said, biggest issue is the FSCAI crash when I destroy units. This requires me to re boot FSCAI and then reset my side. The GUI does say some units are "firing" but I cant see any tracer and they must be pretty lousy shots. Here's a log from first run in to target. Subsequent logs must be from each time I destroyed a unit and FSCAI crashed, causing me to reload FSCAI.

I reinstalled half a dozen times...thought it was something I was/wasn't doing.
FSCAI always crashes when I kill any targets.
Can the GUI reflect the ground units as enemy? They nearly always show as friendly? Even the T72/ZSU and BMP?
But thanks again, I hope I've helped a little with any de bugging.
I think this program is superb!

All simobjects other than aircraft (your ground units), are auto-assigned at a Team, based on closest airport ICAO for them !!! So, if AYPY airport is the closest to them, declare it in enemy team of era you choose to fly (edit team file in "Config_USER" folder). Or even better, make a new Era & Team file, for these scenarios you fly, with only include appropriate Airports (ICAO) and plane atc_models for each team.
If you don't want AYPY to be declared as hostile airport (you can't use friendly defences at the airport in such a case), you can make a fake airport with ADE, by just saving it's center co-ordinates and ICAO name, close or at the position of hostile simobjects. This new, fake airport, add in your scenery library and activate it. Run "makerunways.exe" to be included in airports database. Finally, declare this airport at the team file of FSCAI, for opposing team.

I'm not really sure how to edit airports to be friendly or enemy, but I understand that if you "make" an airport enemy than units close to it are on the opposite side to yourself? Here's my little war scenario. I'm using Orbx New Guinea as the area. I fly from AYPY (Port Moresby) in the F18 (VRS). Nearest enemy are 20 miles north east. There are other enemy units scattered about the map. There are only two other "airfields' I use. TAP (bush strip for the Trojan by Ant) and WTP. My other mini scenarios are flying from two bush strips in the Trojan, namely TAP and WTP. The main problems, until Dutch can re do the DLL, is that FSCAI crashes every time I kill any units, regardless of if the units are friendly, enemy or neutral. After crashing, when I reload FSCAI, all the units sides need to be reassigned by individually double clicking on each unit. So I use the three airports in the local area that "makerunways" can find. So I can't assign these as enemy if I'm using them to fly from, as they are friendly bases! If there is s way to make all my groups of enemy units "enemy" and keep FSCAI up after I destroy a unit, then that's good! In other words, I want to assign myself as either NATO/ALLIED/Friendly/etc and all the ground forces as "enemy". Anyway, if Dutch can redo the DLL and I keep FSCAI running after a kill, then I don't mind assigning each unit individually. Provided the units I assign to the enemy side are "killed" or "removed" from the FSCAI GUI after I kill them. At the moment, after I've destroyed the ground units and reloaded FSCAI, the ground units are back in FSCAI GUI as if they haven't been destroyed. In other words, they are non persistent on the map but respawn as persistent in FSCAI? Thanks for the tips, I read about the closest airport thing, but it doesn't help my little war scenario, since I'm flying from the three airfields in proximity to the enemy. It's a geurilla type scenario that I made in Simdirector in P3d 4.5. I made a scenario in 4.3, using a two year old FSCAI, with guns on the Mohne dam in Orbx Germany....worked very well too! Maybe you can fire some FSCAI weapons from your aicrfat first before you use TP-weapons? In my FSX I had the impression that this would work without crash.

The crashing matter is something needs to be fixed. Assigning simobjects to Teams , goes like this : 1. Copy/paste a Team file from your "Config_User" folder at your desktop. 2. Rename that file to : Teams_MyScenario (as an example) 3. Open above file with notepad, Ctrl+A (select all) and Copy/Paste (Ctrl+V) this : Make sure F18 & TROJAN are the actual atc_model names for these planes at their Aircraft.cfg under [General] tag. If not, change above with actual atc_model names. 4. Save & drop this Team file into your "Config_USER" folder. 5. Open Eras file in there with notepad and add at the bottom this line : ERA=NewGuinea,Teams_MyScenario 6. Save file. Done. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Now when you choose from FSCAI's UI the era "NewGuinea", apart of F-18 & Trojans, everything else will be auto-assigned to "Enemy" team (dew to closest airports). I did the files as you suggested, but the new ERA and Teams don't show up in the FSCAI GUI? Only Libya, SE Asia WW2 and Default Eras show. "Your Team", only Neutral, China, Iran Libya Nato and Russia show? No NewGuinea?
Here's my edits;

Ah!...
1. Copy/paste everything from your "Config_STD" to your "Config_USER" folder
2. Preferences must have :
SCREENX=-11
SCREENY=105
Right now with X=-1143, goes out of screen limits probably.
