I thought I´d ask here, since most here would be interested (propably).
I´m flying the very nice OV-10A Bronco by Tim "Piglet" Conrad, but unfortunately it has no working HUD in the VC. Since I have a TP-ed version, getting a reticle to actually hit something with the guns or rockets would be cool.
Any idea?

I don't know about adding a HUD, but it is pretty easy to add a fixed reticle gunsight...I have been able to do it for a few other airplanes. My development computer is down right now though so i can do it for you until after i get my new PC up and running sometime next week.

I'm not able to do anything right at the moment because I just had to replace my development computer and am still in the process of getting it set up a new system.
If you can wait a week or two, I should be back in business.

The reticle I made is based on videos and pictures I have seen. Although it's size and shape is pretty accurate, I'm not 100% happy with how looks in the sim...its too dark and "blocky looking".... so I will try to come up with a better one. If someone else is able to make a better looking texture, that would be even better. In the meantime, it seems to work in FSXA and P3Dv4.5 just fine..... but when I tested it with Tacpack (in P3Dv4.5), gun and rockets hits were are all high and to the right of the center point of the sight. This might just be due to the settings from when I added Tacpack to it. It was one of the first planes I played around with. Also....if you know how to get SMOKE rockets to fire, instead of high explosive, please let me know.

The .dds file just goes into your texture folder.
OV-10's usually carried rockets with White Phosphorus warheads ("Willie Pete"), so that they could mark targets. Tacpack only gives us High Explosive (HE) rockets and the smoke effect only lasts 30 seconds.
We need a rocket that has a smoke effect that lasts about 5 minute.
The OV-10's also had a smoke generator onboard that they could use to help fighters find them and their targets.
I'm going to try to figure out how to add "airshow smoke" to my OV-10.

Great. Now we just need marking rockets.
I'm playing around with FXEditor to see if I can come up with a white smoke effect that will last for at least 5 minutes. Oh, and by the way: The reticle worked fine. Thanks a lot! HAJO

That would be really great! I would even sacrifice the default LAU-68/Hydra 70 (M151) rockets for that! I have never been able to score some damage with them, only ships could be killed with a single shot. All other targets just shook them off without beeing scratched.
