First, let me state that I had no idea what I was doing. I used the ".96" version of FSCAI. I had a ball!
I fly the VRS TacPacked F-18E. I took off out of KCHS to KXNO.
Set up 2 flights of Mig 23s with a route of KPOB-KXNO-KCHS-KPOB using CCP. One was single ship. The other a 4 ship departing KPOB 5 minutes later.
I engaged the single ship first and got into a turning guns dogfight which was a standoff. I broke off the engagement and re-engaged from about 13 NM. I gradually crept in on him and took him with an AIM 9.
The 4 ship split up when I engaged them. They did not seem very focused on me. I would have thought they might have worked together better to set me up. As it happened, I took 2 Mig 23s with guns; 1 with an AIM 120; and 1 with an AIM 9.
Next, for grins, I created an F-18E at 20 NM who promptly shot me in the face and blew me away.
I am curious. None of the 4 Mig-23s got off a shot on me. Why not? I would have thought they would. They just broke formation and scattered letting me pick them off one at a time.
Anyway, keep up the great work. This is going to be something special. Thanks.

Glad you had some fun ironmike.
Which MiG-23 were you using as your opponent? If I can get it I'll try it out, it's the only sure way of figuring out why they didn't shoot at you.
What I do sometimes is test in sitting duck mode - I fly straight and level in autopilot and just watch them move in the for the kill and see how they do it. This is a good basic test. I have seen them do idiotic things when confronted with that situation.

I need a confirmation here :
Dutch, you say that AIs controlled by CCP or default AI Flight plans, will drop the control of these and FSCAI will take control of the AIs ?... This is possible ?
I ask because in FSX Missions at least, for an AI flying in Wpts (either static or dynamic), FSCAI can't take control of the AI... I have to spawn a new substitute AI and deactivate the previous for the FSCAI to take control.

The MIG-23 was FSXatWarPack1_MiG23.
Upon review of the TacView ACMI, it appears the 4 ship was attempting to rejoin on me as a friendly. The only aircraft listed in FSCAI as "Active" was the F-18E which I spawned in FSCAI. It clearly was an enemy since it shot me down with a missile. Also, it was listed as Russian. I was NATO. After I shot the F-18E, it was listed as "removed".
I did not tell the 4 ship of MIGs to rejoin on me. They did it on their own when I got near them. They clearly broke up their formation and abandoned their CCP flight plan. No doubt about it. One was attempting to rejoin in trail. Later, another attempted to rejoin right echelon.
My guess as to what happened is that the MIGs were friendlies and the F-18E was an enemy. I will continue to play with FSCAI to learn the ropes. Thanks again.
I would attach the TacView file of the engagement for review, but it does not appear to be possible on this website.

Ok, I saw it happening in FSX Missions too... I know how I can deal with it.
Ironmike, about the MIGs : MIG-23s are not listed in FSCAI vehicles. Have you added them in FSCAI ?
What I think happened is that MIGs were assigned to a team (if such the case was - you can see that in FSCAI's screen) by closest airport, probably the same happened to you also (airport of same country resulted in same team or Team "None" for everybody...)
In FSCAI @ Vehicles tab, you can use MIG-21 as "template" (by double klicking it), edit as MIG-23 & save as new model (it'll be added at bottom of vehicles list). What you'll edit at atc_model, you have to edit the same in Aircraft.cfg of AI Mig23. Right now it looks like this :
atc_model & atc_type must have the same name & this name must also be declared in FSCAI (as I described above).
When you've done that, Open FSCAI, choose your team as NATO. Run FS and enter your ccp mission. I expect you'll see at FSCAI screen the MIGS assigned to Russia Team. Now, they'll engage you properly... hope this helps (it's in documentation of FSCAI).

All xpel has said is correct and good advice except for one minor detail - atc_type and atc_model don't have to be the same. FSCAI doesn't look at atc_type at all, only the model. Typically atc_type is the manufacturer but FSCAI doesn't care.

Yes, I added the MIG23 to FSCAI based upon the MIG21; however, my ATC_Model was incorrect "MIG23" when it should have been "MG23". I guessed and guessed wrong.
I will try the same CCP setup again now that I have corrected the FSCAI Vehicles Database.
