Captains,
For the next few weeks I will be offline quite often in order to support my family. Our pet cat (of nearly 21 years) had broken her leg last week and we need to render her assistance.
"Honey" is unable to undergo any rigorous medical procedure due to her otherwise frail condition, so Mrs. Travis and I have turned our home into a "cat rehabilitation facility" as we are determined to adjust Honey to her new life and limitations.
This is taking many hours each day to motivate Honey to be as mobile as possible (with an un-settable broken leg... in a splint... Ow!), but she is a fighter and has made extraordinary progress in just a few short days.
This will take me away from direct support activities for a while, but we are keeping a list of items as they arrive, and are slowly ticking them off as we can get to them. Peter is doing yeoman work in handing the intake and pointing out critical issues. Dutch is still working on his secret activities... one of which has just this weekend blossomed into something that I can now announce:
We are currently phasing in a new feature into FSCaptain - a feature which will take form before the end of the current year to allow off-stand deicing of aircraft.
Regards,

Hi Travis,
I'm sorry to hear about the kitty cat concern and hope her leg heals soon, but we are also very understanding of diverting priorities!
Take good care of Honey!

From all of us at Casa Travis, thank you most kindly for the good thoughts....
Barring a miracle Honey's leg won't ever heal, but she's strong and doing very well - and we'll continue pushing her to excel!
Regards,

Captains, I needed to update this thread. About six hours ago, we decided to put Honey to sleep because of complications arising from her leg injuries. Honey was a fighter to the end. She took her many medications and had settled into her new routine of mostly sleeping, watching TV, and food/water. She never cried or complained, just hobbled around our home as we had "jump-proofed" everything. In her final weeks she feasted well on roast chicken, pastrami, and her favorite: bacon. We are already missing that little cat, and will take several days to be with friends and family. My wife and I would like to thank everyone again for all of the good thoughts! Regards,

Thanks Woozie!
My wife and I took care of our parents when they were leaving us, but for some reason Honey's passing was much more of a "gut punch."
(I believed it's because we've not lost any children, which is what Honey also functioned as for us....)
Best,

Sorry for your loss.. Hopefully soon you can get another cat, maybe HoneyII of how about FSCaptain HONEY!
Looking forward to the off-stand deicing of aircraft. Especially with winter coming here in the northern hemisphere.

Thanks Dan,
Your comment has been accepted very well, and I will let you in on a secret. Honey was added several months ago as a "dispatcher" - so when you run FSCaptain and see HH TABBIDY as your dispatcher... you'll know that it's "Honey Hasenpfeffer, Tabbidy Cat". (My mother always pronounced "tabby cat" as "tabbidy cat".)
The off-stand de-icing is working well... for me. The catch is that we need to be able to produce visible de-icing trucks so you will know where to go to and park!
Neither Dutch nor Peter nor I can produce a SimObject model & texture to indicate "here's a de-icing truck!"
This screenshot I'm sharing is of my trusty C208 being serviced on-stand by two FSX "JET_TRUCK" SimObjects.
