Captains,
FSCaptain version 1.7.0 Release Candidate 2 is ready for download. (I hope... more on this later.)
This build started off several weeks ago as 1.6.3 Release Candidate 2, but we decided that since so many new features have been added since 1.6.2 that it wasn't fair to consider this a mere "sub-point release." So it's 1.7.0.
I'll mention here that the README file within the ZIP archive needs to be read before installation of the upgrade Fixpack. There have been several changes of late and we want to ensure that all Captains are aware of these changes before upgrading. Please take a few moments and make a full backup of your entire \FSCaptain\ folder before installing. I find that the simplest way is to use Windows Explorer to copy the folder and paste it onto my Desktop where it will always be in view until it's no longer needed.
There are two things to note:
Since this is a new "version," previously saved flights will not be honored. If you're in the middle of some long-term or multi-leg flight, please finish what you're doing first and only then should you upgrade.
There have been changes to the items.cfg file and a new file is included in both the Fixpack and the Full install. If you have made modifications to your Items.cfg, please make a backup of your changes first. If you email them to us, we can assist in converting your changes into the new format.
The User's Guide has been updated to track the latest changes.
Now the funny thing is I uploaded "ready to go" versions yesterday. Then I started tinkering and adding things. The uploads today are 3-4 MB smaller in size and I can't explain why - everything looks to be in place. If you've ever assembled a bike or a gym set for your children or grandkids and had some parts left over after being "done," then you know how I'm feeling. "Be careful kids...."
If there are no new bug reports within a week, we will consider this to be the official release of FSCaptain and will update the download accordingly.
