Gents,
Need the old installer, new one does... NOT register in FSX Steam, and when did it only once did, framerates were ..0.7 FPS. Something is amiss, so a link to the previous one please until this BETA becomes fully functional.

Hi,
SO I did a complete reinstall of the pc, and I can verify that the latest version .3 does not somehow register in FSX Steam. After tinkering once it did, but after activating the FCDU the frames dropped to 0.7 FPS
Version 182 does work in all ways.
Advise me where the logfiles are and I can send them to you, but I did have to uninstall the latest version.
Regards

Hi Jay, If you've reinstalled your PC and have already uninstalled FSCaptain, then I would guess you don't have any FSCaptain logs... which by default would be in \FSCaptain\Data\Logs\. But if you have backups ( lovely lovely backups), you would find your ADMIN, FCDU and FSCaptain logs there. Don't try to figure out what to send me, just ZIP the entire \Logs\ folder and I'll scan through what's inside. When you write that 1.8.3 does not somehow register in FSX Steam, I assume that you mean there is no FSCaptain menu in the FSX menu. If you mean something else, please let me know. I honestly can't imagine what "register in FSX Steam" means other than that. Since you had an older version of FSCaptain installed, did you use the FULL or the FIXPACK installer?
Do you have any other simulators on that PC? FSX boxed, or FS2004, or any of the P3Ds?? Perhaps our installer thought to install to a different directory?? Best,

Hello, Apologies for the late reply. So, it seems that some things have changed in the past six months or so because just now I reinstalled FSX SE and the Vpilot version 2.8.1 does not work well with the new FSUIPC 4.976. Only FSUIP 4.974 will let you squawk mode C on the app. I had to do a complete reinstall of W 10 Pro (3 x) to find this out myself, but both developers say their apps are not linked, no idea how or what, just satisfied I got it to work again. To FSCaptain, I'm sorry to say no backups , was too busy sorting the previous out and did not think of making those so I could send you something to dive into, my mindset was just that the problem with you was sorted, but the problem above not so easily (both developers are reluctant to send previous versions of their software for testing and verifying, had to scruffle an old FSUIP form internet somewhere) With register I mean indeed there is no FSCaptain in the add ons menu of FSX SE. I do remember somehow getting the FCDU in FSX, but as stated the frames dropped to 0.7, and I could activate the FCDU outside of FSX, but when I wanted it out of the way I recieved the warning that my flight would be terminated. No other flight simulators, and used the new full installer from your website. Thank god your version 182 SC 32 still works and you were willing to send it

Jay,
Again, I'm sorry for the problems. But after reading your post, I'm now working out some other things I may need to look into. I'll come back in a day or so to update what I'm thinking of doing... but I need to let things sit on a slow boil for a while before I do something too rash.
I would like to ask you one more question for now. When you used the 1.8.3 Full Installer, did you install "Over" your existing 1.8.2 installation, or did you use the Uninstaller first?
Best,

I've been caught in a couple of Real World things that won't give me extra time for a few days still.
Anyway... my thoughts were that if you had Uninstalled 1.8.2 and then Installed 1.8.3, it's possible that the FSCaptain.Dll was not added to the dll.xml file. Something like that would keep us out of the FSX Menu and also make the FCDU Gauge nearly useless.
So if you're running 1.8.2 and all is normal, please make a complete backup of your \FSCaptain\ folder and run the 1.8.3 Fixpack Installer. That should leave your dll.xml file untouched.
Another possibility is that the SC-32 1.8.3 FSCaptain.dll is faulty. It works in my boxed FSX, so it should work in all FSXes.
This is the point where I'm grasping at straws, so I'm hopeful that running the Fixpack over a solid 1.8.2 install would work for you.
Please let us know!
Best,
