Hi This may seem complicated but here it goes. Why not add a little enhancement to the schedule. As a captain you can add the option of having to get to your destination and fly a connecting flight to another destination. Therefore your on time performance would need to be perfect as you would be judged on one flight although having to fly multiple legs to complete. How would this be any different that the current process of multi-leg flights? (See the User Guide, pg 53, 113-116.) Do you fly for one of the airlines that are supplied with FSCaptain, or have you "rolled your own?" I've actually entertained lots of different ideas in the "pre-OUT" phase for years - things to add a little randomness to the process. And before I give you my thoughts on your suggestion, I want you to know that I'm not trying to throw cold water on them....Realistically what would be the effect in this situation? If someone is late, why can't I leave on time? If I do, I'll likely arrive on time, my passengers who made it onboard my aircraft on time will get to where they are going on time, and the late passengers won't affect my score, because when the flight's over, it's over. Then again if I wait, what if the passengers don't show up at all? Now I have a plane that's loaded with passengers who will be late themselves. Likely a grumpy lot, which will hurt my score - plus I'll get a Late Penalty myself. Now if it's not at my discretion - that is, if I received an order via ACARS to wait for the tardy passengers to arrive - that's a different matter. I shouldn't have to worry about my passengers complaining. So what we have here is just a pause in the loading process - a minute or two more. Then again if we can limit the delay to not more than one or two minutes, perhaps we will be assured of getting a "Happy Passenger Bonus"? (Which we don't yet have.) So that's my thoughts. What would you want to see happen in such a situation if you were real-life Captain? If you were a passenger already onboard, and not wanting to be late? If you were the passenger who was late and is relieved to see that the Captain has waited?? How could they apply to all of our Captains??

Interesting reply. In fact, airlines regularly overbook their flights, counting on people not showing up (and if they do, they get a bonus if they agree to be on the next flight). Maybe this "not showing up/being late" business would be a feature for the economic model Peter

I should have added that I was using the beta version of the economic mode so far so good. I have flown for FS captain airlines and now have created my own airline. I have used the multi leg options and I am satisfied with it. How does my proposal change that option or must I say enhance it. Note quite sure actually. But please continue reading. Well appreciated reply above. I used complicated well, I must explain differently. The flight manifest would need to gain a bigger role on pax flights not just the number of pax or luggage weight but the names of pax perhaps initials. Yes the orders/ warnings must be coming from the ACARS as we as captains do not supervise the check in process or security. I guess in this case it may be some type of dispatch failure rather than mechanical. Passengers would be more likely to arrive late in busy airports or when extreme weather conditions would be likely to delay takeoff. Now Travis since the manifest has the names of the annoying ones to leave behind we would decide whether to remove luggage and pax... Now how about the majority of pax are late due to a some random event, (connecting flight) as a captain we would be obliged by the ACARS to wait for all or in economic mode lose revenue. If this occurs on one of the multiple leg flights I would have created which (should be one of the conditions for such dispatch failures to occur) then we'll.
A bonus system for managing the delay would be great.(if created) Loss of reputation would be ok as well.
I hope I ws more precise this time. Regards,

If you have any feedback to it (things you like or don't like) please drop us an email and we can discuss privately. Things are starting to build for our next major release.... (No, I can't say when that would be.... ) The things you are mentioning seem to be aimed towards a set of ideas that I've been working on that will begin to show in not the-next-major-release of FSCaptain, but likely the one following. They would need the full economic package to support the "role playing aspect" that what you describe would take us. Bear with us and I think you'll like where we're going. With Regards,

Most definitely will. Meanwhile I shall continue testing Fs captain economics.
Many thanks,

Hi all, Another idea mainly concerning PAX flights, to my knowledge doesn't exist in FS Captain. Why not give the captain the manifest for all six legs of a multi leg flight. Logically the multileg flight is considered as one flight therefore one flight number yet captains are able to only view the manifest one leg at a time. I am not sure if it's possible but I am sure you have the answer to that. Now you might be thinking well what would be the benefits of having a huge document detailing each leg possibly hours in advance. 1) It adds more realism 2) You know what to expect on you different legs including number of pax (If any are late)/cargo 3) Dispatch would probably have more options to cancel a leg if you are too late causing serious problems for your progression 4) Dispatch would probably warn captains that check in of passengers of our next leg was completed 5) Dispatch might even be able to advice of possible connection flights of current passengers on board
Am I dreaming guys? I have not come accross that type of programme for fSX therefore FS captain would give a great flight simulation experience.
Giving passengers a bigger say (Kendo)

Hi Kendo,
that's an interesting suggestion. I am not a real pilot, but my impression from way too many hours with FSX is that in real life the manifest is only delivered to the pilot relatively close to departure. If that impression is correct, it wouldn't support your point 1.
Having said that, real airlines certainly have a good idea about how many people booked each leg, so something like a preliminary manifest should exist. And if we're already at a preliminary manifest, why not go for the whole? In any way, if you have more information how this is done in real life it would be great if you could share it.
I am sure Dutch and Travis will consider this.
Cheers, Peter

"[C]onsider this"? Consider this done since the days of version 1.3.
If you're using the Administrator to select a flight, you can jump from leg to leg and select flightplans, set upper-level winds, and view dispatch releases.
Just click on the << and >> buttons to regress / advance through the legs of your flight.
(And yes, there is a tiny fault in the manifest generator that becomes apparent in multi-leg flights. I will address this... if not in Beta 5, then soon thereafter.)

Nice guys I remain happy. Peter I don't actually know how it is done. Travis anyway we can have some sort of preview in FCDU, obviously in future version as I am aware of the time required to get this and all other things done.

How about direction of flight on the admin page similar to what FSeconomy does? Reasons include continuing in one direction (round the world) or like yesterday I was trying to stay in the confines of an ORBX region I've programmed Windows Forms for years (and VB forms before that ) but the way the Flight Dispatch form is generated still eludes me. This isn't the first such request that I've seen (although to be fair, you were the first to post the request), so I can't give you an ETA. But it will happen....ETA is ASAP.

Travis anyway we can have some sort of preview in FCDU, obviously in future version as I am aware of the time required to get this and all other things done. Kendo, it would take a lot of work to allow the FCDU to manage "dispatch releases yet to come." I think that only allowing it to display the current active release via the kneeboard is the proper manner. You do have access to all releases from the \FSCaptain\Data\Manifests\ folder, and via the Administrator if you use it to commit to a series of flights. Regards,

I don't know if this already came up as an idea but how about a remote app (Android and/ or iOS) to monitor flights especially L/R flights when away from the computer for a while. This would be the entire ACARS controlled over Wifi

That's a nice idea to have a non-PC ACARS... and we've done design work on something that could be useable on remote devices once I've achieved what's currently a huge hurdle.

Great product. I have a simple enhancement that shouldn't require much to code. Can you please add a button or clickable hotspot to the in-game gauge that gives it night lighting? Make the buttons light up white and add a little bit of an orange glow to the grey body of the ACARS unit, kind of how FS2Crew does their interface bar when you hit the LIGHT button. It is very hard to see the FCDU during night operations.
