Hi Andy,
I am sorry, but I think you need someone who knows more about FSCaptain than I do. I suggest to write an email to Dutch (the developer). He usually gets such problems sorted out quickly.
Good Luck, Peter

I have been using FSCaptain for some time now in P3D and have done many flights with the new PMDG 737NGX for P3D. I did a flight today with no problems. I quit and went and did something else for a few hours then came back to do another flight. I choose another livery but the same model which uses the exact same Aircraft.cfg file master/Panel.cfg. When I bring up the FCDU in-game and power it on and click login now it is suddenly telling me "It can't establish a link with the FCDU Gauges..." and to check to make sure the gauge is present in the panel.cfg file.
Any reason why FSCaptain has suddenly forgotten that it is installed properly and has been working for a few weeks now but now it's magically acquired Alzheimer disease and doesn't recognize it's installation into the PMDG aircraft? The gauges are still in their folders, the entries are still in the panel.cfg files for both the 600/700/800/900 aircraft. FSCaptain is now dead in the water.

Kuragiman, your situation sounds like the one described here earlier today. If so, check your panel.cfg file to see if it's missing the FCDU|FDR entry in the Vcockpit01 window. If so, you'll have to manually add it back. My guess is that something somewhere is removing the FDR from the file. (Or more likely, re-writing that window or file, losing the FDR in the process.)

Well I checked that last night before posting just to make sure. When I did the ACARS installer I told it to put the FCDU at the end of the panel list. This made it Window28 in my config and when I looked there was a Window28 config still in the unit with all the information for the FCDU. Are you saying there needs to be a virtual cockpit entry too? Also, I don't think I mention one small thing. I can't access the FCDU with CTRL-SHIFT-6 like you are suppose to be able to do when you set the FCDU outside the starting 9 Window panel slots. I have to bring it with the View Menu. It's there though. I added the Type=Special to stop the gauge from disappearing when I cycle from exterior to interior views. [Window28] Type=Special size_mm=358,834 position=8 visible=0 ident=24477 gauge00=FCDU!ACARS,1,1,358,834

Are you saying there needs to be a virtual cockpit entry too? Kuragiman, If you are using the gauge ACARS, then yes - there needs to be a reference to both the FCDU or FCOM as well as the FDR (Flight Data Recorder). The FDR needs to run as often as possible, which is why we place it in the VCockpit window. I have noticed this too, although it does work for other Captains. This is on the book for further investigation, but I have no ETA on when it might be corrected....

I can't access the FCDU with CTRL-SHIFT-6 like you are suppose to be able to do when you set the FCDU outside the starting 9 Window panel slots. I have to bring it with the View Menu. I think that's the normal behaviour: according to page 148 of the user guide, CTRL-SHIFT-6 only works if you placed the gauge in [Window06]. You would have to manually change the panel.cfg file and shift the original [WindowXX] to [WindowXX+1] for all XX = 06, 07, ... As your model has a [Window28] I personally would probably just open it using the FSX menu bar, or run the external FCDU.exe Cheers, Peter

I believe Kuragiman's referring to the same behavior as the Toggle ACARS Window menu item, and which should open/close the window hosting the ACARS gauge.
I'll check both simulators today and see if anything might be intercepting the keystrokes.

I got the Duke Turbine configured but was having some trouble getting everything right with the Twotter. So I searched and read through the FAQ and the posts here to see if I could find anything about the issue I'm experiencing, but didn't. So, recovered my password and was about to post the issue here when I realized... yes, it's true... the issue I'm having is with voxATC. Nothing at all to do with FSCaptain.
But since I'm here, thanks for the +5 "emergency landing with serious mechanical failure", and the -25 for "failed to report emergency".

Hi Avistene,
the appendix of the user guide contains a list of items for score computation. That list does not include an entry +5 for "emergency landing with serious mechanical failure", but it includes +20 for "successful emergency landing". So I am a bit surprised by that +5 as well. Unfortunately I am travelling and the user guide is the only documentation that I can currently access, but I will look more into this when I return.
Best, Peter

But what I mean to say is, I have no issues at all with FSCaptain, and enjoy it very much.

When I click on the Fscaptain Admin it states Unable to load airport database click OK to rebuild. I click ok and it proceeds through it and completes it I then click ok and it opens the SceneryScanner which states could not find file runways.txt
Please help me get past this or create the file.

Hi Fscaptainnewbie,
that sounds like FSCaptain could not find makerunways.exe, a program written by Pete Dowson. It could be that it lacks the permissions to write a file into your main flightsim folder. Did you install FS9/FSX/{3D into the default folder?
Best, Peter
