Hi Filipe,
I got the message and replied, but strangely the entire PM thread has disappeared except for the first (your) message:
My first thought was that you may have not run makerunways.exe. To do so, open the Administrator, go to "Options for all airlines" and click on "Rebuild Airport database". First try this, then let me know if it worked. If not, please send me the entire log file via PM or per email.
Cheers, Peter

I have version 1.45 and a number of my aircraft do not show up. I checked the atc_id and most have one. I tried upgrading to 1.6, but FSX crashed. Where can I get fixpak 1.5 to try that.

Hi Wschneid,
we should definitely first resolve your upgrade problem, version 1.45 is badly out of date. Here are a few questions: 1) Did you close FSX before you installed 1.6? 2) Did you have any open flight in the Flight log of the Administrator? If yes, delete those flights as they may cause problems
If that doesn't help, try to describe in as much detail as possible what happens and what you do when you try to upgrade.
Cheers, Peter

Ah yes, I know that one myself and battled quite a bit with it. In my experience, there are two possible reasons for this:
1) If only the last aircraft in your Airlinename_Aircraft.cfg file is affected, then simply add an empty line at the end of the file (go to the rightmost character of the last line, hit enter, save the file)
2) If other aircraft are affected, then it is probably a badly configured aircraft.cfg file of the plane itself. Sometimes developers put in more than one line of the form atc_model= ... , this can confuse FSCaptain in the economic mode. You can either try to fix that your self, or you send me your - Airlinename_Aircraft.cfg file - the aircraft.cfg file of any affected airplanes - potentially also the map file (in the Aircraft\Maps subdirectory of FSCaptain). That file should have the same name as the directory of your plane in FSX-directory\SimObjects\Airplanes subdirectory)

Hi Nick,
are you using the economic model? Then only airplanes listed in the file FSCaptain\Airlines\[Your airline name]_Aircraft.cfg would show up.
A way to find out more about unlisted aircraft is as follows.
- Open the Administrator and go to Flight Dispatch - Pick any airport ICAO and select <Unlisted type> as aircraft type. - Click on List Flights. You will then see a list of unlisted aircraft along with the reason why they are not listed.

Thank you but another quick question, how do you change the ATC_ID in the aircraft.cfg

Nick, If you're running FSCaptain 1.6.2, please send us some of your recent ADMIN log files - we should be able to determine what aircraft you have in your simulator and how they are matching the FSCaptain aircraft configuration files. The joke answer would be " Very carefully...." But really, you would use a text editor and add in a "tail number" For example, if your livery was for an American aircraft: atc_id=N12345 ... if it were Austrailian... atc_id=VH-ROO ... German... atc_id=D-BIER Etc. You don't have to be precise, but it must be unique. (Two aircraft that are listed as N12345 may cause a problem, etc.)

Hi Nick,
why are you asking? You could change it be editing the aircrafy.cfg file with Notepad.exe , which I sometimes did when using FSCaptain. However, FSCaptain has an Overrides folder in thew Aicraft diretory. Creating an override configuration file for a plane in a specific folder of FSX\Simobjects\Airplanes which usually is the better option.

Ok, can you tell me exactly how to change the unlisted aircraft to listed under flight dispatch

Hi Nick,
there are many possible causes for this problem. With the information we have from you in this thread, we cannot be sure which one it is. There are two options for you:
1) in version 1.6.2 there is a new document that explains in detail how an aircraft is configured in FSCaptain. You could follow that document step by step
2) You send us (see below) your aircraft.cfg file and (zipped) your FSCaptain\Aircraft folder

I am having a terrible time trying to get the Aerosoft Twin Otter recognized in Flight Dispatch. The FCOM recognizes it, but not Dispatch. Here's the entry from the cfg file. Can someone help me figure out what's missing? Thanks, Scott

Hi Scottw,
there is conflicting information in your aircraft.cfg file:
[fltsim.3] atc_model=DHC-6
[GENERAL] atc_model= DHC6
When atc_model gets two different values assigned, FSCaptain sometimes gets confused about how to identify the airplane. There are two ways to fix this: 1) Eliminate the line atc_model=DHC-6 in [fltsim.3] 2) Configure the airplane in FSCaptain\Aircraft\Overrides folder as described in the user guide (section 5, p. 82)
Option 2 is more complicated, but option 1 could potentially have an impact on other addon programs. I have the Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended installed and it is working fine with FSCaptain. I have verified that its aircraft.cfg file has only the line atc_model= DHC6 in [General], so that's why I would recommend to try option 1 first. Make a backup copy of your aircraft.cfg file first.
Cheers, Peter
