Hi Ywg256,
I am not exactly sure what you mean with "simplified gauge". If it is the old FCOM, I would suggest not to use it. As far as I know, it does not support all FSCaptain features and is only kept for compatibility reasons. I would suggest to open P3D, hop in one of the problem planes, start the FCDU and see if that works. Try both the internal FCDU gauge that can be launched from within P3D, and the external FCDU.exe (actually, try that one first, then the gauge).
If that doesn't help, please send us (see blue text below) - a zip file of your FSCaptain\Data\Logs directory - a zip file with your FSCaptain\Aircraft directory - the panel.cfg file and aircraft.cfg file of the airplanes that do not work
Cheers, Peter

I will try the FCDU first with the aircraft I know works and then try it with one that doesn't. If worse comes to worse I will send over the files.. I am sure I am missing something that is probably a simple fix.

We'll get things working, never fear.
I've used Posky and Thomas Ruth aircraft many times, so it's a matter of just getting everything in the right place.
We'll start simply enough - send us some of your panel.cfg files and we'll install the gauges. Then you can start up and either the FCDU will find a matching configuration file, or generate one for you.
Then it will only be a matter of tweaking the numbers until the fuel loads that Dispatch gives you match your style of flying.

Hi Travis, Just wanted to give you an update that so far I have the Posky ERJ 145 working, the Thomas Ruth A330-200 working and the Virtualcol Embraer 175 working. Seems the FCDU must be started up with the virtual cockpit view. I cannot get it started up in 2D view. But if I start up in Virtual Cockpit and then change to the 2D cockpit everything seems fine.... Thank you, Sean

Ah ha! My apologies for being "VC-centric."
If you want to run the FCDU in a 2D environment, you'll need to put the FDR gauge in Window01, like so:
[Window01] ... gaugeYY=FCOM9!FDR,1,1,1,1
Where "YY" is the next available gauge number.
I'll make a work task to review the ACARS Installer and see if I can automate such. There are several months of other work tasks ahead of anything like this though....

Hello
Totally Lost here - Getting an error in PMDG 737-600NG when I load FSCaptain I get error stating: "This ACARS cannot get a link with the Flight Data Recorder gauge which must be installed in the aircraft's panel.cfg file. Consult your installation instructions to fix this problem then re-load this aircraft."
I tried to follow the instructions listed at the top of the forum but, I became confused when it came to the .XML interface procedure. Simply, my "Gauges" file doesn't contain the files listed in the instructions. It's also says "identify" which .XML file but isn't clear on what I need to identify. I was able to make the changes to the aircraft panel file: // // FSCaptain // [Window21] size_mm=380,320 position=8 visible=0 ident=24477 gauge00=FCOM!ACARS,1,1,380,320
However, I'm still getting the same error message when I load FSCaptain in PMDG. Usually able to fix .cfg files issues but this one is more difficult. Need a little help!

Hi Crj312,
can you send all of us (see below) a zip file containing your your FSCaptain\Data\Logs directory?
Thanks, Peter

CJR,
Also please include the panel.cfg file for that aircraft.
It reads as if you don't have the FDR installed into the main Vcockpit window, but your panel.cfg will tell the tale.

Sorry - I thought that I had re-answered. Yes, your FSCaptain DLL is of an older version than your gauges - so they won't speak well together. Make a backup of your FSCaptain folder, and download the 1.7.0 RC4 Fixpack here. Read the README (have a large beverage handy) and after you've verified that you've made a backup, install the Fixpack and check that the dates in the \FSCaptain\Bin\ folder match those of the FCDU gauges in your \Gauges\ folder. The Fixpack will not overwrite any of your aircraft & airline configuration files, but you have some new versions in the Aircraft.zip and Airlines.zip files should you choose to use them. There are some new \Config\ files, but your core profile and options are untouched. Your \Data\ files are never touched.

Hey Travis Sorry getting back to you so late on this issue, I have really started to enjoy the Aerosoft A320 and I have no issues with FSCaptian configuration there. Nonetheless, I installed the Fixpack and followed the Readme file and other instructions but I'm still getting the "ACARS cannot link" error when I load up PMDG 737 (*Note: FSCaptain DOES indeed work with PMDG 777 series on my computer, the issue is with the 737). Another issue I realized today is that I am unable "Remove" the ACARS from the PMDG aircraft in the FSCaptain Installer. I tried removing to reinstall in hopes of fixing the problem. Not sure what the issue is but I'm starting to think maybe I should uninstall FSCaptain and reinstall to start over? Please let me know what you think??? Thanks!

I have been troubleshooting my (in)ability to use FScaptain with RealAir Duke v2 for the last couple of days. I been using the OP in this thread A LOT. Suddenly i discovered that the missing FDR gauge is cause by me using the FCOM (as in the post from 2013) not the FCDU! (Looks like the same problem that cjr312 had. Would you consider updating the first post, as it is pinned in the support forum

To clarify; I was using: gauge16=FCOM!FDR,1,1,1,1 --> did not work, gave FDR error. ("This ACARS cannot get a link..." Now I am using: gauge16=FCDU!FDR,1,1,1,1 --> WORKS!

Viking,
You are most certainly thanked for bringing this to our attention!! (A lot of our documentation is in need of updating....)
I've updated the original post and will check it again later for correctness.
