I am currently running version 1.06.02 with the PMDG 737-800 NGX. When I pull into the gate, as soon as I set the parking brake I get a very large drop in frames. It lasts until I hit "PROCEED" in the FSC CDU. After I do that, my frames return to normal. I wasn't having this issue prior to version 1.06.02. Could you guys please take a look at this for version 1.6.3?
Thanks.

Hi Gary,
FSCaptain itself doesn't need a lot of resources, so it should be a problem that involves setup issues or maybe other addons. I remember that I had somewhat similar issues with the 777-200LR at some point: suddenly I got frame rates around 5 fps when I was in the VC, while frame rates were normal in outside view. After a suggestion on Avsim I reinstalled the plane and everything was back to normal.
My own experience had nothing to do with FSCaptain, but I believe that after several updates the panel.cfg was perhaps messed up. Something like this could have happened to you when you upgraded to 1.6.2. Did you reinstall the gauges? Does the problem happen with gauge FCDU and external FCDU?
Maybe send us (see below) the log files of your flight. Are you running any other addons (FS2Crew?, SimPhysics?)
Best, Peter

Thanks Peter. Besides the PMDG 737 the only other addons I am running are Radar Contact, Active Sky, and the new reboot version of FS2Crew. When the new reboot version of FS2Crew came out recently I reinstalled the PMDG 737, then installed FS2Crew, and then reinstalled the FSCaptain CDU. So I believe that would have given me a fresh version of the panel.cfg file. When I get a chance I will send you the log files from my last flight. Appreciate your help on this......

Gary, The frames drop when you set the parking brake? Silly questions follow.... Are your engines running at that time, or have you stopped them first? Do you have assigned gates, or are you allowed to park anywhere? Does this happen with both the panel and external FCDU, or have you tried? Have you tried this with another aircraft - a default aircraft for example. I highly recommend KMER (31) to KMOD as an ILS friendly short test hop, when needed....

Engines are running. When I get to the gate, I do the following (in this order): Set parking break, then fuel levers off, then hit "PROCEED" in the FSC CDU. The frame drop occurs from the time I set the parking break until I hit "PROCEED" in the FSC CDU.
I do not have an assigned gate, but I usually park at a gate. I haven't tried the external FCDU or another aircraft yet. When I get a chance I will try these and report back.
I have the log files, is there a way I can send them to you?
Thanks for the help, Gary

Hi Gary, I have the log files, is there a way I can send them to you? Yes, you can click on the blue text below to get to our email addresses. Ideally send the files to all three of us, and perhaps put a link to this thread in your message. Usually we have no problems finding the topic, but when it gets very busy that really helps. Cheers, Peter

Gary,
I still can't think of what would be causing this behavior.
When you're taxiing in and you're near to your parking spot, and when your groundspeed falls to zero, we check for the status of the parking brake and count how many engines are running. Those two checks run in parallel though.
As another test, the next time you park (if your SOP will allow you) shut down your engines first and once they've stopped then set your parking brake. Notice if anything changes.
This is on my task list for study.

Gary,
Open your Administrator, go to the Options for All Airlines tab, and click on Rebuild Airport Database. You're missing some key files (G5.csv and R5.csv - both in your simulator's root folder) that we're desperately trying to read.
This action may or may not solve your framerate issue, but it will help things move along....

Thanks Travis. I will rebuild the airport database and report back. I wont get a chance to do this until Friday.

Gary, That's understandable. Heck, I was only able to make a test flight today - only after 3-4 days out of the cockpit. For 1.6.3 BETA 3 (subtitled - it's taking its own sweet time) I've added (and am testing) a procedure that will kill the repeated attempts to load the G5 and R5 files. Those files are only needed when flying, so I'm going to post a message through the ACARS to let Captains know that the "Runway database" or "Parking spot database" has failed to load. Regards,
